Who do you invest with? Everyone talks about pissing money away in depreciating liabilities, why not a discussion of assets? I just dumped some cash into a Scottrade account so I could play the market from the office. $7 per online trade! Anyone else actually into making money?

Re: Here is a new one for this board
I don't invest but a while back before I bought my car I had talked to my banker about putting money into some accounts that would draw interest, H esuggest to me a brigde account and a money market account. (Don't quote me on the money market one) But each quater the rates in both went up, On the bridge account I think he said to start it off I would need at least 250 in there and the rate was at 3% a quater and the max the rate could go was 4%. I forgot about the other account he had mentioned to me but it sounded just as good.

Re: Here is a new one for this board
Ugh.. 3.5% blows, but that's almost all that is out there right now. Check www.bankrate.com to see if you can get anything better. I think my Bank Of America Money Market is still 4.5%. ESPP's like those mentioned for Lowe's and Kroger can be quite lucrative. I was in the Countrywide ESPP before, but as we all know, it tanked bad. I got out with a minimal loss. Remember to MAX out an IRA and 401k!!!!! You need compounding interest. $1000000 in the bank will only net you $35000 in interest per year!!!!! I know I couldn't live off $35k a year, nor would I want to when I retire!
My current plan is to play with some stocks with some free money I just picked up last weekend (thanks Hard Rock and Rio!). If I don't like what I see in the next couple months, I'm switching to Precious Metals. Good investment with limited risk that isn't tied to the dollar!! Which brings me to another point. Think globally! 30% of my 401k is in an international fund that has outperformed regular US funds 4 fold!!!!
I know the median age for this board is 16.2 years old, but there has to be some investors out here!!!!!www.fullthrottlev6.com
www.chitownracing.com

Re: Here is a new one for this board
Too much MBS and CDO related backing for AB Commercial Paper right now for me to have money in a Money Market fund.
With the exception of my 401k, most of my savings is in an ING account currently.2001 Black Z28 M6
Sprayed, slotted, geared and more~
