I agree with this. Reason being..if they buy a nice car with their money they are less likely to screw around. In theory they will appreciate it more.

Never really understood what that was all about until later on. My parents never paid for anything for me, hated it at the time but respect it even more now.

first car, 89 S10 blazer, never wrecked never broke anytihng! (i fixed lots of things)
and i got it for free from a family member, no speedometer and rust holes that i could stick my arm through.
