Where did you get this information? Because I heard it was an advance too, but I believe 1/2 of what I see and none of what I 'hear"...anyways I wasn't sure if I believed it. So whered you get your info?

Q. My spouse and I have divorced and the Stimulus Payment check is made out to both of us. Can I cash it?
A. If the check is made payable to both of you, then both must endorse the check. Even if you and your spouse are now divorced, both must sign the check. By law, each spouse is considered to receive half of the payment in cases where a joint 2007 return was filed.
If the filers chose to have their tax refund direct deposited, the Stimulus Payment will be direct deposited into the same account that received the tax refund.
I plan on either using it towards a house, or my engine swap plan. or IRA......

I feel the same way but it sucks that the whole country gets money except you and me. ;) It's like penalizing someone for being successful. I'll bet George Bush found some way to get his money! My girlfriend is a school teacher and she's getting back like $600.
I see why they did it, though. They are "stimulating" the economy by giving money to those who will immediately go out and spend it. Comedian Lewis Black said it best, "Giving back this money is stupid. The only way this is going to help the entire country is if everyone spends the money all at once. READY? 1-2-3 SPEND IT!"

I agree with both of you. It is nice to not qualify, but I could always use a couple of extra bucks for mods (car or house). It does suck the entire country gets money except us.
