I could spend $6k in just a bedroom set. Hell, the bed I had before this one was $2500, JUST THE BED. $1800 furniture is not the way to go.

I could spend $6k in just a bedroom set. Hell, the bed I had before this one was $2500, JUST THE BED. $1800 furniture is not the way to go.

Well, we are just looking for an entertainment center to put the new HDTV in, which we bought for $799. Is it the best, not by far, but it suites our needs. Good for you to be able to afford a $2,500 bed, but that's simply not feasible for everybody. Owning my own business and having 4 dependant on me, I don't have a guaranteed paycheck, so sometimes I need to be frugal.

Don't get me wrong, I would love a $6K bedroom set and I hope one day the business grows me into that, if not more.

Well, on the flip side, I could not afford it either. I have bought below par furniture before, and its broken in 6 months of use. Im a person that buys furniture I need that will last a long time, because paying $799 for something once and then paying it again after it is broken is more expensive than buying something that is $1299 and will last forever. I hate spending money on things that I already have, but need to get because what I got didn't last long at all.

As for that bed, I got rid of it a LONG time ago. Im too poor for that ****, I have been sleeping on a futon for almost three years now. Furniture is the last of my needs.

If someone is claiming you as a dependent (ie, parent), I don't believe you qualify.



The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, which authorized the pre-payment of this one-time credit, stipulates that the payment is not to be made to any of the following:

* Individuals who can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return;
* Nonresident aliens; or
* Anyone who does not have a valid Social Security Number.

If you become eligible during 2008, you may be able to claim the credit on your Tax Year 2008 return, but you will not receive the advance payment this year, since that is based on your 2007 return.

everyone who filed a 1040 for 07 will get one unless they made to much $$
I think, go to IRS. gov to find out if you qualifiy
