      Re: Ticket...

research it. I pulled out the :bs: card when I got hit w/a "running yellow light" ticket in VA around 1992. I ws going to fight it, but found there really was a "crime" as running a yellow. so I paid the fine & never ran a yellow in VA ever again, despite how close somone was behind me. as for points, go to some driving school that will give you point credits.

With all due respect, I have to disagree. I'll take an $83 dollar ticket any day of the week over the headaches of dealing with an accident.

To the OP: you only have to fork over $83? Just pay it, work a little OT, and make up for it.

That's great if you can afford to blow off a day of work to "maybe" get points taken off...

hey, i'd rather lose a day's pay to fight a ticket and lose the points than just throw an I'm Guilty up there and pay the fine plus the points. So let's do the math.

An 8 hour day's pay at $15 an hour: $125 less taxes.
In the middle tax bracket : $95 after Taxes
              FINE:$83
I called my insurance co. and they said 3 points would raise one's insurance by this much per month on average: $25
              So 12 x $25 = $300
and it takes three years to lose all of those points and I'll assume you stay on your insurance co. and have it pro-rated each year for the one point reduction: $600
So by paying it and going to work you wind up paying $588 even after you got your day's pay, and 3 points.

Or you go to work and miss a day's pay and they still charge you with the fine and but no points: $178 in the hole.

Which option would you go for?

forget our arguments man, go consult an attorney lol

okay...all jokes aside (even though i didn't read the whole thread), your best bet would be to talk to a prosecutor on your court day and ask him if there's any way he can deminish all points for $$ ... it's worth it! .. you DO NOT want point in your license even if it is only 2 points ...it will stay in your ins. system for 3 years and every ins. company you go to get quote, they'll want ur 3-5 years of driving records....

I got my first ticket with my 96 camaro ... 89 @ 65 .. I took 2 points and paid close to $500 as a court fee/ 2 points reduce ....few months later, another 2 points also another grand court fees ...so umm yeah.. I carried around that 4 points and because of that I can't drive the new NISMO Z right now .... :(

                        Re: Ticket...

that sucks. My first ticket would've been 89 in a 45 but luckily I got off with a warning, but that's another story. Wound up getting 3 points on a negligent driving charge when I passed out behind the wheel of my grandfathers silverado and rear-ended the comcast truck...no wonder my damn internet was so slow..

                          Re: Ticket...

I got a speeding ticket last summer and worked out a deal with the court system to pay a higher fine and if I did not get any other tickets in 3 months they would drop the speeding ticket against me completely.

I did that and now I have no convictions on my driving record.

Is that possible to do in your case?

I hope it turns out well for you my friend.
