hmmm.... I have a friend that used to have a really nice CBR600RR, until he let another friend ride it. He was 18, the other friend was 20, neither had full coverage. The other friend crashed and totaled the bike in less than 200 feet. First friend is still paying for that bike. Loans don't go away.
I hear ya, but friend one was kinda dumb to let friend 2 take the bike without a prior discussion. Or he wasn't dumb at all and was totally willing to run that risk and it bit him right in the ***. There's specific riders in our group that we will trade bikes off with just for this reason. We ride each others bikes at our own risk. Those in the group without deep pockets get left off the bandwagon. So take that story above as a lesson Silver, especially if you won't be getting full coverage.
