Just got home from fueling up and thought I ask around what are you guys getting on the average per tank after topping it off. I just shelled out $64.00 and mindful not to run the fuel tank to fumes and affect the pump but I am just experimenting here.
3 blocks away, my local Shell gas station hit $4.19 for regular unleaded here in CT. I admit I have found myself easing off on the throttle however it's excruciatingly frustrating to drive behind another doing 55MPH just to save gas. I figured I'd pay that much since its gonna hit $5.00 by July maybe ( sarcasm ).
I also drive solo each and everyday for my daily 58 mile commute north which adds up to 106 miles round trip.
My 1996 3.8 Series II motor has been very trustworthy & reliable so therefore I'm keeping it. It currently has over 255,000 on it. I'm sure a new aftermarket exhaust, lighter components such as a aluminum driveshaft, rear seat delete and Weld Wheel Prostars in the near future will add some more mileage to the tankful. I have an MSD spark plug wire set and E3 Diamondfire spark plugs waiting at my next oil change. I have been using Royal Purple 10W30 since it came out with great benefits. I'm also happy to report I bought a 30 gallon, 155PSI max 1.5HP Husky air compressor to keep my tires properly inflated at each an every cold morning when they need it. I love it and won't change the routine maintenance I adapted so far.
I felt the need to comment early enough before summer driving hits and feel the real pain at the pump. I know we all need gasoline but Bush should've knelt before the King Saudi last November before asking for an increase in fuel production now
