Re: Need to get bigger!!!!!
Protein shakes, white meat, and low weight higher reps. Don't do 10lb curls 15 reps though, use a weight that is going to push you to acquire your desired reps. My dad always says, "you start building muscle when it starts to hurt." Some say he's a bit crazy when it comes to working out, but the results don't lie.
This isn't from direct experience though, I'm 6' 3" 160lbs. I had a bit more muscle on me a few years back, but stopped with the weights.

Re: Need to get bigger!!!!!
If you want muscle, and it sounds like you have the right foundation, you want high weight, low reps.. trust me. If you want growth, that is how you do it. The best way, is to have a spotter to help you.. not as in help you, but to help you push yourself.
IE what you do, say you are doing bench, you do like 3-5 reps of 70-80% of your max, and then you do 3 more (that you couldn't do by yourself) by having your spotter just barely help with what you can't do. On the last one he should be lifting almost 50% of the weight, but pushing yourself in that way, really builds muscle.
There's no such thing as a supplement that will just magically make you grow.. All I suggest is that you take a good multivitamin every day, and get enough protein.. also about 30 min. after you work out you need protein.. that is very important. If you do that aerobic stuff, you will actually LOSE muscle, because it is easier for your body to consume muscle than it is fat. So the muscle goes, and then the fat. You ever see the people that only do aerobics? Skinny mother****ers that have NO muscle at all.
Personally I've never really done the whey protein too much, it never helped me. I've taken N02 (lol no not N20), which is a hemodilator and helps with keeping your blood flowing (better flow = nutrients etc delivered faster, think cars.. you are going from 1" exhaust to 4".. lol).. That is the only thing that has worked for me, but you have to drink a ****load of water and it's very expensive, and it doesn't work for everyone.
Are you new to lifting? Cause if you are, it's going to hurt.. alot. After a few weeks, or months, you won't get sore anymore, it will just be a sort of "tired" or weak feeling, and it feels good.
If you are trying to lose weight, which it sounds like you are, if you are 261 lb and 6', the more muscle you have, the faster you will burn fat. That whole thing about doing aerobics 5 times a week is horse**** too. You really just need to eat right, and that is the hard thing for most.Last edited by xmetallicaxguitaristx; 05-28-2008, 04:09 AM.

Re: Need to get bigger!!!!!
6', 150 lbs. Skinny *** kid.
My soccer team used to do weight training once a week. We would work on different stuff every week (shoulders, triceps, biceps, chest, etc), then do abs at the end.
Now I do curls in my room every so often.
I eat like a horse. If it wasn't for my running from soccer and my (I'm guessing) high metabolism, I think I'd be a lot heavier.

Try to stay away from doing too much of one exercise IE bench press. A lot of people are obsessed with bench press, but you need to have strong shoulders and triceps to be able to bench good (picture someone camming their car with a huge cam, but stock tune, stock intake, stock exhaust.. etc. That is the equivalent of only working on bench but not the "backup mods" you see what I'm saying?).
A gym membership would be a good place to start, and maybe have someone else to workout with.
BTW here is a good site that shows a lot of different exercises you can do

your car will go slower & use more gas. just tone it up, loose fat & repalce w/muskel, but over all try to weigh less.

Re: Need to get bigger!!!!!
my personal advice... ask mighty thor, hes a professional non-steroid body builder...
from personal experience, i lift weights, and my first year of weight training in high school, my bench press went up 60-70 lbs (during school year). i mainly did low reps, 4,3... thats about it, sometimes we would do pyramids... 6,5,4,3,2,2,1 with reps... increasing weight... i was always told that low weight high reps builds definition more, but if your looking for more strength and to lift more, its more weight...thats what we did...
also: protein...:)
