Friday night, leaving my g/f's house, backing out of her driveway, and backed over their dog in my dads TrailBlazer.
After backing over the dog, my g/f honked her horn twice (beep Beep) not like, laying on the horn. So I figured she wanted something. I put the Trailblazer back in drive, and pulled forward cuz I was right next to her car and she wouldnt be able to open her door if she had to talk to me. Now, I pulled back forward, over the dog again, this time I felt it run over something, wasnt sure what it was, but had a feeling it was the dog. The dog didnt make a sound, no Yelp or scream or whimper, nothing.
I jumped out of the car, ran to the back of the blazer and tried to pick up the dog, she bit me so hard it hit felt like it hit the bone, broke my skin and latched on, I couldnt for a few seconds get the dog to unlatch.
Finally did, and my g/f's dad comes out of the garage and says to call the emergency vet, all this time its POURING rain. The dog get's up, and slowly limped off the driveway and went and sat in the bushes in the front yard. We finally got ahold of the vet, and her dad said I need my dog looked at, she just got hit by a car and I need to have her put down. OMG, my stomach dropped, I felt really bad...
We took the dog to the VET ER, and the vet checked out the dog, gave her a shot of a strong pain killer, and did numerous tests.
In the end, the dog got X-Rays, and all that good crap.
No broken bones, no nerve damage, no internal bleeding or organ damage.
The only thing that happened was inflamation of soft tissue, so, pretty much pain.
After the dog got the shot, she was walking around like nothing really happened.
She went back for a follow up Dr. Appt today, and got steroids and some sort of pain killers to help.
Amazing a dog can get ran over twice, and have nearly nothing happen to it.
Dog is a 15yr old 18lb american eskimo. She's part blind, stupid and part deaf.
She's been hit by a car before, and was nearly ran over earlier that day walking in front of their Envoy.
I felt really bad about hitting her, but they assured me there was no way it was my fault, shes just an old dog that is dumb.
