I prime her, and let it idle for 5 mins. at the start of the day
ughh... why? Most cars the oil has been circulated and the car is ready to drive after about 30 seconds.
sounds like a waste of fuel to me.
I did occasionally but never neccesary, why do I have the prime the fuel system on a car made from the 93-02. I would do it 2-3 times if I had done something to the fuel system though.
My current car, I remote start it as I walk to it or before I walk out my door, just to get the oil circulating in the motor before I put a load on it.(also great after work to get the AC started as I walk across the lot)
I normally get in and turn the key to the run position so i can get my windows rolled down, radio station found, etc. Cars loud, i leave my house at ~6am most mornings... parents arent awake yet. When I go out, I'm normally leaving after my parents have already gone to bed also.

I've learned this since the early '90's. My automotive instructor said it is better for the car. It gets the fuel up there, plus it wakes up the ECM or PCM. According to him it should only take 4 sec. I thought most people do this.
Notice a lot of new cars are coming out like this now. Where you put the key in and turn it and then you push the start button. This few sec. action before the car starts allows for priming to take place.
I think the biggest thing here is preference. Around me, there are many who've replaced the FP multiple times, but I haven't heard the fuel pump whine, nor had a problem with it and I've primed it from day one. I'll just turn the key, wait for the click, then start her up. Seems to be very useful when the temp's like 20 below. Besides, it doesn't change any drive time or anything, so why not, couldn't hurt.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
