Recently i noticed that my usualy grocery shopping has been totaling about $100 when i used to spend $80. I have noticed food has gone up slightly. What i also noticed is that my usual big bag or sun chips is not only 10.5 ounces. I also noticed that my usual half gallon of ice cream is now only 1.75 qts. It seems like every way we turn these days we are getting screwed over somehow.

Re: grocery store woes
Guys.... not sure if you heard of this little thing going on with our economy....
The value of the dollar has dropped significantly. Of course everything is going to cost more. **** for awhile the Canadian dollar was worth more then the american(I think they are almost even now)
Hell this is even stemmed to the Nintendo Wii... wonder why its hard to find a WiiFit or MarioKart in stores? Its because the Euro is doing so much better then the US dollar, nintendo makes more money per unit in Europe so they are prioritized in shipments.
An $80 bill before is now going to be $100.
Even though nothing changed.... That is one of the bigger, but not the only reason cost of gas went up. The value of the american dollar went down and the first thing to adjust price for it is gas since its such an up to date market.
Welcome to the brink of a recession that is coming after the large peak in our economy that started in the early to mid 90s and peaked in the late 90s, and really took notice on 9/11.Last edited by DAS BOOT; 06-20-2008, 07:09 AM.

Re: grocery store woes
Well, I have noticed especially with Kroger our brand products are going up in price; anymore if I didn't get my employee discount I would consider national brands just b/c the price isn't that competitive now. Also, everything is staying the same price and getting smaller, like my f*ing granola bars I used to buy are seriously the size of my thumb now. WTF is that? People are seriously getting militant about their grocery bills, as they should be...but I'm the one that gets yelled at. Just to let you people know, the customer service people are just the messengers and have to buy groceries too....we are not the evil ones....I get cursed at everyday about how I cannot magically make things cheaper. People are becoming psycho. BTW wait for all your prices to go up once the midwest flooding is taken into account, grocery suppliers will be the new gas suppliers.
