Radar Detector. HELP!

I need help choosing one.
I want a good one, but one that wont cost me a fortune.

Any examples or models i should look into?

from what i've read on searches and reading up on info, you don't want to invest in a detector unless it's the very best.

so if you don't get a valentine 1 or better than forget the idea and just go the limit.

Escort Passport X50 is pretty good.

Not the newest one but the closet competitor to the V1, the new escort cost more but the only difference is the new one has GPS memory to remind it of where "false alarms" are at.

Teh one with blue LEDs is cheaper.

IMO, browse your local pawn shops. I picked up a Escort something or other; supposedly the best detector for under $100 in '06; retailed for $99 and I paid $35 for it in Feb. of '07. Works fine for me, gives me about a mile of notice before the cop shows up, and about 3 for the little speed signs that show your speed.

I was just about to say... Valentine 1 is about the only one that's worth a damn.

I had my Escort Passport for 2 years now ... bought it off ls1tech used for cheap 130ish (i believe) it does pretty good job .... if it breaks or stops working, valentine 1 will be in my car ...

THE BEST = Valentine 1 = $$$$$
Better = Escort passport x50 (or the newest 08 model) = $$$
very good = Escort passport = $$ (can be picked up very cheap off diff. forums or ebay)

Do not waste ur money in anything else

the escort passport x50 is pretty much the same exact detector as the valentine 1 with better styling and no arrows

hmm... i want one too, might try a pawn shop now, look for an escort of valentine 1... but what about in town... a mile radius? doesn't it just buzz all the time?

only when there are automatic doors nearby but once you use it for a while, you kinda get used to what radars your local cop uses (Ka or X or K) ... cops around here always use Ka and photo speed things use K ... so I just watch out for those two
