so theres this mustang for sale by me that im trying to decide if i should get. its a 71 with a 351 cleveland in it. i havent gone to look at it yet, but my buddy did and said the engine runs strong but theres something wrong with the brakes but he didnt remember what. so lets assume the worst and say it needs new brakes all the way around. its just got primer on it and the its got a little rust on the roof. its got two different types of wheels on it and apparently none of the doors are sitting right, theyd have to be realigned.

Ive always wanted an old muscle car that i could fix up and have and this is the first time ive ever found one for cheap. its 3000 obo. do you guys think thats reasonable or what should i offer?

1. 3k is an extremely low price
2. verify it's a cleveland, not a windsor
3. check for bondo
4. why aren't the doors hung right? body could be twisted

6. your going to have drum brakes at all 4 corners
7. is it an actual 71? it could be a 72 or 73, as the dashboards can be swapped out since the VIN is attached to them.

Get a mustang book & verify the body/styling diffs between the 71~73 stangs to make sure you're starting out w/what's advertised.

If you have the time/money/space to work on it, sounds like a great project.

btw, is it a Grande, sportroof, or Mach 1? auto?

sounds like a great project, but i cant justify the price.. unless those year of mustangs arent worth ****, that car should be fetching 5k with a shot engine/transmission and full of rust
