  • Anyone ever buy a hi mileage Camaro?

I'm going to look at a 99 3.8 today. It has 108k on it. I retired my last Camaro at a 123k. But I drove the hell out of it for 6 years, started out with 38k and finished at 123k.
My question is has anyone ever bought a camaro or any other car that already had a lot of miles? If so, did you have any issues? Or what kind of issues should I expect if I do get it?

wife's 98 3.8 camaro was bought with 120k miles on it. Had to replace rear wheel bearings right away and the manual side view mirror didnt work correctly. at 145k we replaced the transmission. valve covers leak some. replaced speakers front and rear, other than that, no problems

I bought my bird with 119,xxx miles on it. Bought it with a bad coil pack and some body damage. Did a tune up, and never looked back. the car currently has 147,xxx and I cant say I've had anything mechanical go wrong. My factory installed alarm started malfunctioning, not the key less entry, but an additional Prestige GM Accessories brain. I replaced the shocks and struts, brake pads and rotors, and radiator (just as preventative maintenance, I read some horror stories about DexCool and I had access to a cheap new radiator).

Bought mine at 117, now closer to 128 (not much for 2 years), but aside from maintenance, all that has gone out is the cluster, which I feel I may have had to do with it breaking. There are a few creaks here and there, but still running very strong.

i bought mine with 144k miles on it and put 20000 miles on it so far and it still runs good. had an intake gasket leak but that was the only real issue.

            The 3800 is easily a 200K motor.

if it goes slap a new one in, I heard you can buy em online 0km for like $2500...if everything else on the car is good you virtually have a brand new car....

watch for blown intake gaskets, leaky valve covers is not a hard fix...

I got mine at 63K but had to replace the cat and water pump within a month, so don't think just because it has low mileage it is exempt from mechanical troubles. My previous car, a 99 Grand Am I got with 113K and drove it til it had 155K. The only reason I stopped driving it is cause it was totaled in an accident.

Bought mine at 180K almost 181K on the clock. Only had to change out a sending unit thus far, I do believe my coil pack is going though

bought mine at 139k, only had to rebuild the the rear diff. and replace the cat. other than that, it's still great at 172k.
