Bought mine at the high end of 39,000, at 45,000 I had to replace the alt. & bat. Again, high mile 3.8s are still good, it's a matter of how they've been taken care of.
Wow, Im really impressed and glad to hear that none of you had problems with your cars. So I went to the dealer yesterday to check out my future car and the damn owner did the ol "bait and switch" on me. The camaro wasn't even the same as he had posted online. The one online was pewter with t tops and RS package, the one on his lot was silver, banged up, scratched up, and even taped up. The interior was crap and the car looked like it wouldnt make down the street. Needless to say, I left very upset because I had money in hand and was ready to buy.
Today, my Dad just happened to drive by a lot that had an 01 Camaro. I just test drove about an hour ago and I have to say it feels good to be in a Camaro again!
This car was immaculate (except for one scratch on the door) Who ever had it put a SS hood, spoiler, and emblems on it along with more stuff. They even put exhaust on which I was very impressed because it didnt sound like the usual 3.8 aftermarket exhaust. It has 149K and starts up smooth and drives really really good.
I would've drove home in it today but the SES light and check gauges light came on during the test drive.
They're gonna look at it tomorrow for me. If everything goes well she'll be mine!
Look at the pics and tell me what you think!
very nice looking car  the SS badges seem a bit much to me, but it's still very nice...i've been dying for a set of those SS wheels forever! i say pick it up, debadge it and enjoy it!
id be concerned that it was probably driven hard too, but, i doubt very many havent been.
anyway.
i bought my 95 at 153k. its at 178k right now. ive only had to replace the water pump and cat, shocks should be replaced after ~35k since the stock ones are terrible. everything else has been fine. trans shifts perfect. the rockers make some noise but its nothing detrimental.
i'm never getting rid of it no matter how many miles. ill just fix whatever needs to be fixed.:)

I'm at 121k+ took it out of town last weekend, still getting 30+ mpg on the highway doing 75mph+ A/C blasting in 100+ deg weather.
There are a few maintenance issues I'd like to take care of once either the weather cools or I buy a house and have somewhere to work on it but nothing too bad, some oil leaks and a possible inner tie rod end needs replacing.
I'd give it a good once over on the parts that wear out, brakes, belts and hoses, change the fluids and spark plugs and you can probably get another 100k+ miles out of it.
