time warner was only hiring techs with 5 years of experience. i could have applied for one of their subcontractors, but they pay by the job and not the hour.

no, i'm hourly. around here they are extremely geared towards customer service. when we get to a house that already has direct tv, the job they did was ****e at best. they rush. dish pays hourly so we dont rush.

              Re: new job

I have a question, im getting dish network today.. does the dish still have to be pointed south west? (i heard rumors dish network was north and directtv was south) also, they claim free installation, but i heard that you guys charge if we dont want the dish mounted on the roof. what is the actual price now to get a pole setup or is it still free? and lastly do you guys charge when someone is unable to get the service because of trees? ( like a visit charge) i hear so many different stories, ill let you know how my experience goes today with you guys.

it's a 22 or 29 dollar installation fee (i cant remember which). if there is no line-of-site to the satellite then we wont charge you anything. we actually point our dish in the same direction as direct tv but their's is a little higher in the sky so we point it down a smidge. and we prefer not to mount to the roof (a little more dangerous installation). there's no extra charge for the location of the install.

Nothing personal, but you got into a hack job. They aren't going to teach you the RIGHT way of doing an install, thats an absolute fact. They're going to show you how to drill through a floor with a 1/2 bit, carpet and all, and run the cable thru that hole. Thats why their installations are so cheap, they just drill a hole, run the coax thru it, and put a ****ty crimp connector on there. Its hack.

dude, it's really not like that. that kind of install will get you fired. there's so many things you have to do to make sure that the install will last 10-15 yrs. that's right, our installs are supposed to last 10-15 yrs. and then we have to educate the costumer on the system. i've only been on for a week and a half and i've already seen the stupidest people on the planet. but thanks for the support guys.
