For someone to be pissed off at this deal they clearly have no understanding of how business operates and more then likely have been blind to the inevitability of what every major corporation could face someday.
This is kind of a point I was trying to get at. I understand and realize how a business works (and what their true intent is, $$$). But, AB built up a false persona for so long that people, (read: lots of dumb people) actually got caught up in it just the way AB wanted them to. Now, those people are feeling betrayed and rightfully so.

This is why the "American Dream" is flawed. This is why big business should be curbed to encourage small business. When big business starts telling people that they are "American owned and operated" there is a sense of American pride. That pride is what drives alot of this country, it makes people get out of their ****ty beds in their ****ty houses and go do some menial labor. When you sell to foreign investors or corporations, you have now broken the pride that we have fed from for so long. Big business cares NOTHING of loyalty. Its what kills me about republicans. They could care less about the morale and pride of the country, but at the same time say they are conserving gov't because its American. I assure you, there will be a time we aren't voting for the president of the United States, we'll be voting for the next CEO of Wal-Mart.

Show me any instance throughout time where a large corporation has showed any of those traits. The plain and simple reason why we send work overseas is reduced costs of labor and assembly. The unions, which you so strongly support, are draining the bottom line for most US companies, especially automotive and therefore preventing them from functioning as a profitable business. Add increased fuel costs and other overhead factors and yeah companies like wal-mart will thrive. They can afford to buy bulk of everything and sell it at prices that will bring masses of people in. That's called a good business model. If you can afford to send components overseas have them assembled by someone at $5 an hour or less and sent back for cheaper then the union guy getting $25 an hour, yeah that's just smart business. If union took a step back realized they're overpaid and took a pay cut the workforce in this country might increase.

None of the stuff you listed has anything to do with politics. If people really believe a republican or democrat in office makes a difference your wrong, they are simply puppets set up to appease the majority. The decisions they make have little bearing on anything that affects us.

The people you describe seem like the Jerry Springer crowd to me. The fat ****ing lazy pieces of **** that don't want to move but feel they should be provided for. The ones who can't understand why companies are going overseas and they are losing their jobs. Really go figure, you whine like a ***** about irrational arguments and don't take the time to understand business and cutting costs all the while feeling like you deserve more. These people are ****ing robots. They do what they're told and then when it all goes to **** they blame someone because they were to blind to notice.

End Rant. Nobody takes the time to analyze the business aspects in these arguments. Look at from a CEO's or Boards perspective.

Yes I know Mogo you will come back with some incredibly intelliegent argument or evidence to support unions or why we should justify paying exorbitant amounts of money to keep work in this country.

Your reading too much into that. I was pointing out some basic business. I countered with the political and personality only after it was brought up by the all knowing fearless Mogo. He's busy right now researching his answer... :stp:

here's a question I was pondering today. Are people born stupid i.e. low IQ or do they become more stupid as they get older? I deal with so many stupid people during the day I just can't tell.

If politics and business didn't intermingle as you say, then why the need for corporate lobbyists? Hell, even my union has a local, state, and federal lobbyist. Who do you think contributes to these presidential campaigns? YOU? You think that $3 you give when you fill out your 1040 pays for all the political campaigns? Are you serious? Major corps are footing the bill for alot of the campaigns on BOTH sides. And if you think unions are draining US corporations, then why the HELL is UPS so successful? You wanna know why companies like GM are having problems? NAFTA!!!

BTW, what the hell do you do for a living? I ask this because I know I am union, and I know no one is simply going to hand you anything. I also think its BS that companies talk about bankruptcy while members of their own board of directors are clearing 7 digit incomes. I have no, NO sympathy for a board of directors that sends its children to private schools while my own 52 year old mother works two ****ing jobs. Sorry, no CEO is getting a tear from me. These companies have an obligation to the American public for decent wages and benefits. Maybe if corps didnt STOCKPILE large sums of money in offshore accounts so that it wouldn't be taxed (Like UPS in 2000) maybe some people would have a decent wage. If you want to outsource labor, send your whole operation overseas then. There will be real American ingenuity to pick up the slack.

I cannot for the life of me understand why you think a corporation like Wal-Mart is doing the right thing. They make HUGE windfall profits, and yet their employees are SCREWED out of benefits. Their employees are the feet in which that company walks with, the legs it stands with, and yet they treat them as if they were garbage. You wanna know why people are no longer motivated to work? BECAUSE YOU PAY THEM $7 AN HOUR WITH NO INSURANCE!!! What kind of motivation would you have to wake up and do the same thing day in and day out, without a day off because you can't afford it? Barely feed yourself and keep a roof over your head, yet these people are supposed to be satisfied while you pull the wool over their eyes of the truth of it all? ITS BULL****.

here's a question I was pondering today. Are people born stupid i.e. low IQ or do they become more stupid as they get older? I deal with so many stupid people during the day I just can't tell.
