the manager says they won't make much money, but they've gotta make some deals. Maybe the problem with the North American auto industry is that dealerships can give away a free vehicle with the purchase of another and still make some profit...crazyness!Comment

Dealers might be making profits, but GM isn't. They are just offering huge rebates to the dealer.
I have considered this though since the wife wants a Trailblazer but we all know its impossible now.
Figure you can get ~$10k off a trailblazer and get a barebones cobalt for ~$10k

I doubt it. I'll bet they argue the price on the SUV is firm, since they are "Giving" you a Cobalt. Like I said earlier, 10 thousand off is a fantastic deal, but arent all the dealerships doing that right now?
