Can't decide which camera to buy?

Yes! Last few weeks i've been researching for a new camera ... I have a very fast/sleek camera at the moment but it's picture quality is bad due to being so fast.... so, I need a camera that's fast and takes really good (vibrant) pictures .... I have test drove one of my best friends Sony W90... IMO, it took really vibrant pictures... It seemed a little slow between pictures and I really had to hold still in order to get a unblurry picture but when I did, I got excellent results ... It's a little bigger/heavier than my target weigh, but vivid picture makes up for it ....

Now it's competitor is the Canon SD750 .... I never owned Canon but I heard nothing but good things about canon .... I went to Bestbuy yesterday and test drove the Canon (couldn't take more than 1 picture because they didn't have memory card in the display model) ....the camera looked really nice and the back LCD was bigger (3") and very sleek.... the menu was user pretty friendly ....

Price wise they are very close too... the SD750 is on sale for $179 and sony is $199 (refurb from Sonystyle $169) ....

Ratings 7.4 and 7.8 is so close, it's kinda like user's preference whichever one the buyer wants to buy .... Anyone have used both or have any experience with the SD750? Thanks.

ugh digital cameras.... buy a manual camera. build a darkroom in your house and then youll be talkin.

but if you have to go with one of those two. id go with the canon. Every canon camera ive used has been good. Ive never used any sony cameras, but i know canon makes some quality stuff.

My camera needs to be really slim ... I go to many parties and carrying anything big is completely out of the question ... my camera needs to fit my back pocket without obviously revealing it's shape!!

I'll suggest the canon sd1000. I got it by recommendation of someone on here, and I have since convinced a friend of mine to get the same one. I got it for about 180 several months ago, so it should be even less now. I've actually compared heads up to the sd750 (buddy had one) and we both preferred my sd1000. really nice pictures, really small and not awkward to have in the pocket, really quick start up and picture to picture time. Also takes amazing videos, if that's any weight.



also available with white rather than black accents.

buhhahah ..it's funny you bring up the SD1000 because I used that all day yesterday at a rockband/birthday party ....it's good but I just think it's too plain in the back...why have a 2.5" LCD when you can get 3" with awesome black finish you know... but comparing side by side, is there any difference? I don't think there is ...is there?

Ok ..the only difference between SD750 and SD1000 are following

a. SD750 weighs .2 oz or 5 grams more.

b. SD750 doesn't come with optical viewfinder.

c. It's 5 mm bigger to accommodate 3" LCD.

All of those are non factor to me while getting a 3" LCD is a big plus considering I can't see sh*t with my f'ed up eyes. I'm leaning more and more toward the canon.

can't go wrong witht he canon power shot cams. i've had an sd400 for like 3 years now. that is what all my pics were taken with.

also have an nikon d70 (slr)(BIG) but i love it. the pics are freaking amazing

get the canon, sony isn't worth a dime anymore as far as cameras are concerned

and the 3" LCD is such a great convenience to have...

In my heads up comparison, I found the sd1000 to have more vivid, clearer pictures, but it may have been that I had been playing around with the settings on the sd1000 longer than the 750. As far as looks, yeah, the sd1000 is pretty ugly, but I chose it based on several online reviews that placed it higher than the 750, and how perfectly flat it is, making it very comfortable in my pocket.

When it comes down to it, if looks have a weight, go with the 750, because though we both found the 1000 to have better pictures, it was a pretty small margin. If nothing else, definitely buy canon over sony.

Thanks...yes, I think I'm set on Canon SD750 because it's on sale for 179 with 1 gb Free SD card ... but if you can find me a great deal on SD1000, I wouldn't mind buying that either.. thanks

I got mine off dell.com for 185 with a 2gb card, but it looks like dell doesn't carry it anymore. Sears has it for 160 and a 12gb card for 10 or 2gb for 15. Check it out:
