I bought my mother the SD750 a few months back for Mother's day. It is damn awesome. It might be only 7 Megapixels or whatever, but the pictures are crystal clear.
Ok ...used the SD1000 yesterday even more and found something I didn't like ...
a. camera/video switch button. On sd1000 it goes from camera > vid > playback. when I am in club or parties, and I am going crazy, I really can't look and see if my camera on vid on camera ..but on sd 750 , it's Camera > scn > vid .. meaning even without looking, i can just push to one side for vid and one side for camera ... I like that!
I really wanted to get the 750 on Friday but it's been crazy ... I just couldn't make any time what so ever ... from friday 2p till now , I think I only slept like 7 hours :( ... crazy rockband parties/long hours at work FTL .. but def. going to circuit city tomm ..... thanks for all the input guys ...gr8, I would love to buy the sd1000 but some simple little things i didn't like about that camera ... don't get me wrong, it's probably better than the 750 but just few different options and 3" lcd won my heart... and also, my friend has the same camera so, i want to buy something different..
The only thing I hate about most DSLR's is they are not full 35mm framed. The ones that are are expensive as hell. You can still get decent DOF shallowness with the mid-sized APS-C chips, especially if you can get back enough to use a telephoto lens and ND it enough to open up the aperture. We did that with one of the graveyard shots of the Bone, and I was quite pleased with the results.

Buhahahah ...just an update.. I really really couldn't decide which one to get since I used the sony w90 again and loved the pictures ....so, I bought the Canon SD750 on Thursday from Circuit city for $200 .... took it to a party on Friday ...Takes nice pictures ...I love the many different options it offers .... I think it still lacked a little on the image quality.... and 2 hours ago, I just bought the sony W90 ..... I am going to test them side by side ..... party to party ..and find out which one REALLY is the best camera .... maybe i'll write a review ;) ....
I would be interested in seeing side-by-side pics.
Ok ...here's a side by side ...
Canon SD750 8.1.08
Sony W90 2.18.08
Sony W90 2.18.08
As you can see Canon takes clearer picture while sony keeps all the colors vivid and glamorous ...but I'll take side by side pics once I get the sony in mail.
