Re: Am I the only one who hates flip up headlights?
you're not alone, i hate flip up headlights/headlights that you cant see
thats why i hate firebirds, most vettes, a lot of exotics (except for the ferrari testerossa) and i even hate the first gen camaros with the hideaway headlights
during the day it looks sweet, but at night they look horrible. the light sticks out like a sore thumb; and if one gets stuck, then your car looks just horrible. I like the body of the 98+ birds, but the only reason why I don't even look into getting one is the headlights. Now, if someone did a conversion, similar to that $1000 one on eBay, then I'd be intersted :)
Its dark outside... what does is matter what the car looks like?

Re: Am I the only one who hates flip up headlights?
I really liked the way the 98-00 looked with them up and down. The 82-97, to me looked like a sad puppy when you were looking at them dead on with the lights up. Now, if only I had the time to fix my left headlight motor... damn thing is clicking. Worst piece of American engineering ever.

That's a common problem for many pop ups including imports. Reason being is that there's no stop switch, plus it's either vinyl or pastic for the gears, if you have 82-91 the pugs were out.
I replaced mine with metal. It made the motors heavier but it's worth it.
Re: Am I the only one who hates flip up headlights?
I'd love mine if I could take the slack out of the passenger side, it has a funky vibration going down the road, so much that at night when it's really dark you can tell they are bouncing due to the way it reflects off of road signs. In 8 years I have for the most part tuned it out though.
The only thing I really dislike is that GM in their wisdom chose those crappy sealed beam bulbs. To do a proper conversion for both is well over 400, that's when using the housings GM originally put in the car for europe. Well the only place I can find them at least it's that much.
