You'll havw serious issues with structural reliability.
With structural reliability, Subframes being the #1 option lol Could you not take the interior out and put in a hidden roll cage-like in the back to support the back.
you need some thing to prevent the car from collapsing under it's own weight...
think of it as a truss bridge, it it was just flat and you put weight in the middle it would fall in, but if you either a. reinforce the flat portion or B. add a support above it then it has better structural integrity.
I am not familiar with the differences between hardtop and convertible frames for the same model cars. Are the convertible frames for our cars the same as the hardtop frames but with some modifications like frame weights and some type of extra frame supports, similar to that of aftermarket sub-frame connectors, or are the convertible frames very different than hardtops. If the frames are similar but with some added components, then couldn't you just replicate those modifications for a targa conversion car? You would still need to know what you were doing though cause you will have the weight from the pillar and rear hatch, which the verts do not have... but the verts do have the weight for the convertible top frame and motor components.
In addition to the Camaro Skinny posted I've seen a picture of a 3rd gen firebird that had a targa-conversion. I believe it was also on cardomain. It could have been a photoshop though cause it was the only picture of it and there was no description.
1996 Polo Green Metallic Camaro:<br />SLP CAI, Carsound/Magnaflow 3\" in/out cat, Flowmaster 2.5\" cat-back... sounds great
Even though a Targa Top would be cool, T-Tops are still the way to go. If you did do the conversion, you would still have to find somewhere to put that damn thing in your car, much like the stock Camaro's with T-Tops have in the "trunk".
