Check this out, may be old news IDK. I thought it was pretty intresting if it's just an odometer reading I'd take it. I don't drive anywhere near 15k a year.
It's on*star monitoring your vehicle and selling the information to your insurance company. I'm willing to bet that within the year they're sending all kinds of information with that odometer reading.
We just did a promo spot for Ryder Trucking called "RydSmart." They are putting these boxes in their trucks that call in every 15 minutes and report vehicle speed, location, brake usage, engine diagnostics, etc. It'll inform the state of interstate usage tax, inform the shops when maintenance is due and call the boss if you're speeding.
It poses some intresting privacy related questions. If it's purely for an odometer reading than I wouldn't be opposed to that. I'm not really for the thought of my info i.e. driving habits, maintenance, routes, trips things like that being exposed. The question I have though is if insurance companies can give discount rates for reduced amount of driving why not offer that now? If you have a local office (state farm, allstate, etc.) then pay your bill at the office they take your odemeter reading and credit you the amount that month or off the last payment of the year. I'd be down for saving a few bucks a month.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
By adding the 87 5.0 stang to my policy, my 6 month premium dropped $400....
I got one for ya. When I first started driving, forever ago, I had a honda. I was paying 220 a month, got my first speeding ticket went down 30 a month, ran a stop sign congratulations down another 30 a month. Turned 25 it went down yet another 30 a month. Haven't had a ticket in over 5 years it doesn't friggin move. Just this past month it went down another 15. Maybe I should run from a cop and get rewarded with a big 90 per month discount.

Wow are you Serious dude..? I wonder why that would happen...
Have no clue but I wasn't going to complain. Wish everything else in life appllied this ****ed up logic.
I wish everything was this a way also. I got two tickets for the same thing in less than 6 months which was for not stopping at a stopsign and my parents insurance went up 40 a month which was BS if you ask me. I got a quote from Geico for myself and they only quoted me 250 every six months my 95 V6'er so im going to take it when I get all my bill all caught up so I can save my parents some money every month.
P.S.... I did stop stop both times...just didnt stop for the recommended 3 seconds or whatever both times which I thought was BS since they were both after 1 in the morning.

i was ticked cause i just had to renew my insur. and it should have gone down again cause i'll be 25 in under a week. but it's not going to movie cause my husband has his freaking mustang in the body shop at least twice a year....don't ask.....
oh well i still pay about 700 for 6 months for the cobalt ss/sc and camaro

Still not bad. I'm 28 I pay 115 a month for just the camaro. I've never had an accident and it's been over 5 years since I got any kind of ticket, moving violation. My insurance doesn't move. I would think that with a clean driving history and over 25 it would be less than 100.

Maybe it's a southern thing. I'm 36, no accidents and no moving violations, and mine is $110 per month for the Camaro... and that includes a multi-car and multi-line discount.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
