    Re: trading in

I remember I almost bought a 1989 red GTA convertible made by PAS, but the black Firebird stole my heart.

I personally don't like the interior of 1988 TA, I like the interior of 1989-1990. Plus the HP is at 235-240 while the 88 is at 220 if I remember correctly.

TPI torque is awesome though. It's basically all torque at the bottom end.

    I would go for it.

    I like this one too

Of course nothing beats the color of Black

haven't been following up on the value of cars but make sure you aren't screwing yourself.

Like your car is worth $5k, and the GTA is worth $3k.

Well that depends on the condition of the GTA. I've seen low quality GTAs around here sell for 3k but I also watched an all original 89 with only 50k on the odometer sell for close to 10k. Plus the GTA will start to appreciate sooner than a V6 4th gen.

                    Re: trading in

                    True.

But anyone buying a car as "investment" is not very smart.

anyone that buys a daily driver as an investment is just an idiot.

depending on his v6 it could be worth like $6k? not sure I haven't followed up on values of 4th gens since I sold mine.

But crap, I sold mine with a blown engine and whining rear for $2k, I assume a decent running one can get $5k

                      Re: trading in

looking at 3rd gens, this would be a fun car...

Not a daily driver, but badass car for $3500

**** the guages, wide band woudl sell for $500-600
                      seats, ~$250
                      Motor $1k-1500.

Then the rest of the car.

1986 Chevy Camaro IROC with custom Daytona Turbo hood, Boyd Racing engine, dual exhaust, racing cam shaft, normal aspirated carburator engine, Racing clutch, the rear axle and tranny has been worked on by previous owner, Autometer gauges (all new), just changed the floor carpet, new dash pad, new gear shift boot, custom steering wheel, Recaro seats in leather (but regular vinyl in the back), Custom billet grille, Custom lights in front, T-top, 16" alloy IROC wheels with almost new tires. New CD/Radio with amplifier. Lots of works done and ready to run, but still need some minor interior and exterior work from you. All depending on how you want the car to look after you are done.

This car has a 355 Boyd racing engine producing alot of power. You won't find a more precision built motor than a Boyd motor... Have used only AMSOIL 100% synthetic oil in everything in the car as well. This car has never been raced. I do not know the original miles on the car, but previous owner had the car since 1994 and told me it should be around 80.000 miles. I haven't used the car much, i just bought it and worked on it to get it in shape. I did alot of work in the interior but diden't finish it 100%. I couldn't afford to paint the car, so i am just gona sell it to somebody who hopefully will. The car comes with aprox a year's supply of AMS OIL that i have in my garage. Also many bottles of Max lead to mix with the 93 octane gas she runs on.

AC has been ripped out for performance increase.
The suspension is set for racing and is very stiff..
Both rear and front brakes are i good condition.
                      No oil leaks anywhere.
When the engine is warm, i sometimes have trouble getting the starter to crank the engine because of the hight compression produced in the sylinders. I think it is just the stock starter that is not inteded for such a large motor, or maybe a to small battery? Don't know..

                        Re: trading in

i have looked up my car's value. it didn't turn out so well. its worth about 2,500 maybe. clutch is bad, its got three different tires, no heat, high mileage (technically). if he's willing to straight trade and it's a good car, then i'm going for it.

hey kristen, it's already got 4th gen t/a leather seats. you cant have it!!
