I have found that it really is hard to use the dSLR's to their potential unless you're VERY good. I am pleased with the pictures I have been taking, but they really aren't anything above and beyond I guess... and I dropped $800 on the camera package.

I went to China earlier this summer and took my mom's nice Sony camera along. Don't know the model #, but it takes some pretty awesome pictures. Since we're sharing photography, I'll chime in. =)
Trees outside the Temple of Heaven
Happiest man I saw the entire trip at the Temple of Heaven
Small building right inside the entrance to the Forbidden City
Graffiti on the Great Wall
I ended up taking 860 some pictures by the end of the trip, but these are just a few of my better shots. China was an awesome place, I highly recommend it if you enjoy traveling.
They are some very nice pictures, but it's hard to believe you took them, from all the pictures of your car ive seen.
Especially your sig photo, nowhere near the quality or thought put into them.
I have a Canon Rebel XSi, but I havent done much with it yet, Ive only had it a month or so.... Still learning and I plan on taking a photography class at a local Jr. College sometime soon.
I take mostly action shots, motocross, hare-scrambles, air-shows etc.
You got serious picture taking skills and know how to manipulate the D-SLR ... I may look into one for scenery and stuff but I can't really take D-SLR to parties and occasions , you know ... I am ready put Canon SD750 (have it now) against Sony DSC-W90 (in mail) ...hahaha ... I can't wait to test them out both at the same time ....
BTW, I am laughing my a$$ off at TheadJack ...sorry Steve!
Thats what the interwebz is for! threadjacking ftw!
I am probably going to buy a $150-$200 P&S for when I get home from Oman... back to the world of frat parties and street brawls with crack dealers. The SLR is just a bit too big.

Here are some pictures I just took quickly. Mainly trying different depths and whatnot. I had some good ones yesterday... but erased them all by accident. Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated.
This one was a suggestion by someone on another site. Wanted a detailed close up, with the camaro in the background...
Decided to play off of that idea, but with my work boots. They are, after all, how I have funded the cars, the camera, and everything else that I own!
Same idea, I guess... That deck paid for my nitrous kit.. haha. Just a small project I did for my dad.

The next few were just me putzing around in the back yard. Messing with focal points. In the first one, I was trying to focus on the blue chairs, if you cant tell.
Flowers are definitely one of the easiest subjects to take pictures of. They look great no matter what!
The biggest thing I was doing was just lowering the ISO.

Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
