This is true, but I really feel like I'm taking a big step back from ASE certified auto mechanic to tire changer. It's like having a master's degree in finance and working a cash register at Target, isn't it?
A step back by working at discount tire? At the beginning of this thread you talk about applying at auto parts stores yet discount tire is a step back?

Yes. At the tire shop, changing tires all day, I'm still a freaking grease monkey, and near the bottom level of it at that. At a parts counter is a completely different end of the automotive industry. Even as far as pay goes, the parts field pays better, and at least I get to work in some A/C.
And by the way guys, don't take this whole thread too seriously. I'm not emotionally attached to my facial hair or anything. If it comes down to this job or nothing else and they'll at least pay me what I feel I'm worth (as me or anyone else would approach ANY job), then I'll take it no matter what the dress code. The whole point of the thread is this: Would you take a job that you don't want if it requires changing your appearance?

Hell, in this economy, I would shave my nads for a job.
No way I'd give up a good Abe Lincoln!

But if the job pickings are slim, then whatcha gonna do?
Atleast keep this job until you find a better one.
