      Re: Jets get Farve...

Favre wants to retire with a Lombardi trophy in his hand, but it ain't gonna happen.

PS. I never understood why his name is spelled with the V before the R.

Ok, as a lifelong Mississippian and one who has seen this idiot in action for the last 25yrs, I think I'm qualified to speak on this. I grew up in Picayune MS about 30 miles from his hometown of Kiln, MS...our high schools played each other. He was a smartassed punk even wayback then. Then he goes to Hattiesburg to attend Southern Miss. He and I still live in Hattiesburg. There are alot of people here who are tired of hearing about him. Then you have a few that still think hes the best thing since sliced bread. He gets drafted by the Falcons only to be traded for once again being an jerk...I guess Jerry Glanville didnt like the competition. Now everyone in Wisconsin acts like he is some sort of miricle healer or invented the game of football. Favre is nothing more than trash, and a glory hound. When he was on tv all the time and Mr Football, there was no talk of retiring. Now that for the past few years its been Brady, and the Mannings on tv getting all the spotlight, now is when hes all of a sudden been pulling this retiring crap. RETIRE BRETT.....WE DONT CARE. I'd be willing to bet that midseason this year when he either gets his knees taken out or sees how bad the team is, he'll be wanting to retire yet again. His brother kills a guy drunk driving, his sister was a driver for a driveby...then years ago Brett comes out to admit to being addicted to painkillers.....the whole damn family is trouble. If it were me who was addicted to pills then got clean, ten years from now everyone would still call me a pill head....but because its him and he plays football, he is forgiven and hes such a wonderful role model. Screw Brett Favre. (ok guys, sorry about that....rant off, lol)

Yeah he really must have meant what he said about wanting to go to the team that'd give him the best chance to win a championship. Going to a 4-12 team is the best career move he'll make at his age. I know it's the NFL and anything can happen in a season, but come on.

Oh yeah one more rant while I'm thinking about it. The Monday night game he played right after his father passed away.....the announcer kept calling it a "tragedy" or a "tragic situation". Thats B.S.!!! A tragedy is a plane crash that kills everyone, a tsunami that wipes out 1,000s of people, or the World Trade Center going down. His dad was a pudgy old fart and had a damn heartattack while driving. Sad and unfortunate? Yes. Tragic? No! I get so sick of the media over doing that story. (once again, down off of my soap box now)

If my dad died, it would be tragic to me. If you guys were to read about it in a story, it wouldn't be to you. No doubt in my mind it was tragic to the Favre family. So it's all perspective.

Uh dude, he was very close to his father, and his dad was the one who got him into the sport. Have some remourse for a fellow human being and more importantly, have the class to not talk crap about someone's dead father.

Favre will leave the NFL on a bad note... Did anyone see the penalty lap he had to run in practice? He fumbled a snap and had to run. It is no big deal, but what I found interesting is that he said "I've never had to run a penalty lap in my past 17 seasons"... get over yourself!!!!!

For all the haters out there, I really don't think you know what the **** you're talking about. Brett Favre will be known as one of the toughest, and best quarterbacks of the modern era of football. He was not an individual that is known for his stats, but rather his ability to grind his way week in and week out, and bring a small, publicly owned franchise a SB win after almost 30 years. If I was doing something I LOVED to do, I would have a hard time making a decision to retire as well.
