Lessons in some sort of street fighting could be better than knife as well.
For one on one or one on two, yes. But it's like my Hap Ki Do instructor says "Numbers catch up to you, I can take on 10 guys one after the other and still be able to take on more, but on the streets all it takes is for those 10 guys to team up together and strike at once."
With the exception of Krav Maga, where you're trained how to survive 8 on 1, but Krav Maga is rarely offered in the US.
Most people don't know how to use a knife. Put your hand up as if you're carrying the Olympic torch, if the blad runs parallel with their forearm in a downard direction, then you're dealing with a real knife fighter. With the knife in this position it's harder to get it taken away, you can put more force behind yoru slashes, and you're not just limited to jabbing motion.
get a knife. I used to carry a folding 3.5" knife on me all the time in italy. i was taking public transportation everywhere, out at 4am most nights, etc.
One evening a guy bumped into me in a subway station, i looked up at him, and he told me to give him my phone and wallet, in a threatening manner. i acted all scared, said "ok" and reached into my back pocket, pretending to get my wallet. i grabbed the guys jacket, and pulled the knife out. He went running! pretty funny to see a fairly big guy running from a 5"9, 170lb 16 year old... haha.

if you are going to get something like mace go to a police supply store and get one of the large cans they carry.
Also using them is kinda like using a gun don't pull and point and threaten if you feel the need and are in danger pull and shoot. No hesitation.
As far as a tazer goes it would have been useless in that situation as this is a one time shot weapon. He'd still get is butt kicked by the 7 other guys. As far as those handheld things that you have to put on the skin forget it, those will just piss someone off if they are over 120 lbs

QFT.
One of my buddies was a cop (or something, i forget what exactly he did) and he had one of the handheld stun guns. One night after drinking, it wandered out of his car. I got jabbed in the leg. It made me drop for a second... and left a nice mark, but other than that, it wasnt bad! I wouldnt want one for self defense!

I'm pretty sure automatics are illegal anywhere unless you're military or police or something like that. Fixed blades may be cool but they're no fun to carry around, especially if you want one with a blade that big.
I have a folded Beretta, blade is 3.5", a flick of your wrist with your thumb on the little knobby thing flips it open. You can carry it around clipped to your pocket and its light. Any sporting goods store will sell you these things...or the internet.
Word of caution though, although sometimes having a knife might get you out of a tough spot pulling one out might make the situation worse. If instead of running away from eight guys you whipped out a knife on them you might not have escaped with just a few bruises.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
