So a friend of mine was driving home from work today on the Interstate Highway in his Firebird doing a bit over the posted limit. From behind, a Florida Highway Patrol becomes visible, gaining fast with no flashing lights or siren.

My friend watches the FHP car go by. After the FHP car gets a bit ahead, the Firebird then picks up speed. Even when the Firebird was at 90 MPH, the FHP car was continuing to pull farther away. Clearly, Mr. FHP was going home (or to the nearest Krispy Kreme) quickly. It must be nice not to have to worry about getting tickets for driving well over 90 MPH on his way home from work.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

    Re: Cop speeding

I've got a ticket once by a cop speeding up from behind. I was in a group of cars going about 75 on the interstate and i got trapped in the left lane so he singled me out. What really pissed me off about it was the guy was really nice actually. Don't ask me why that made me mad it just did. But regardless, he had to be cruising at a nice 80+ to catch up cause it had been a few miles since the last exit.

Funny you mention that... Bowling Green is trying to pass an ordinance to ban using your cell phone while driving, yet 2/3 of their police for is probably guilty of doing it. I see it basically daily, so if they do enforce the ban, i'm gonna make sure i keep my camera handy so i can bust the ****ing ****s who think they don't have to follow the laws like the rest of us.

The only excuse he could have is if he was going to a wreck without fatalaties. For minor wrecks your told not to run your sirens because that makes the people involved nervous and makes them think they're going to go to jail. Otherwise he has no excuse to abuse his powers like that.

Maybe I shouldn't post this but TODAY, I suppose to be at work at 8 am but I thought it was 830. So, I wake up at 740am and realized my mistake. THANK GOD there wasn't any cop out today in the morning because I would be in trouble. I averaged 97 MPH :embarrassed: :o ...Never doing this again... BTW, Z felt really really solid which I was surprised.

even though i hate when cops do stuff that are against the law (speeding, not using turnsignals) they are ALLOWED to do it as long as they are on duty.. lights on or off it doesnt matter

of course they are only allowed to do it if it is required, and not just for fun.. i highly doubt that is the cast in 99% of the time

I can honestly say, if I were highway patrol and was lucky enough to have one of the Camaros, I'd be going WOT all day long.

                      Re: Cop speeding

Well the speed limit law doesn’t apply to police officers. Right now I'm training to be a cop and we don't use our lights or sirens unless we want you to pull over so we can get by and driving lights and sirens is so AWESOME!!

cops can be on the way to a scene with out having their lights going.

                          Re: Cop speeding

theres a cop in my community that drives a camaro SS (his personal vehicle), 5% tint all around, screaming loud exhaust, and blackouts on his front and rear lights.

His license plates read- BOTL FED :naughty:

He's a pretty cool cop though, he's not a d!ck like most of the others.

if I was a cop and had a camaro to drive all day long, I would dare people not to stop to issue them a ticket...heh, you can hide, but you can't run from the mighty LS1....

                              Re: Cop speeding

When I used to tkae I4 to and from work everyday I would cruise along about 75-80 with no problems from cops. Whenever they would pass me going over 80 I would just tuck in behind them and follow. Figure they'll move the traffic out of my way and get me to where I'm going a little faster. Fastest I've done that at was about 100, when the cop realized what I was doing about 10 seconds into he quickly slowed down and moved over, like I was going to continue at that speed past him.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
