    Re: Cop speeding

I have to say I have seen alot of Dallas cops actually drive pretty safely, or at least safer than most I have seen, many use their signal regularly and unless you do something really stupid don't bother you. So long as you aren't speeding through a residential area or school zone no problems. Now they do set up a speed trap from time to time but you gotta be well over the posted limit to get a ticket and most places where they do sit are known to be dangerous intersections so it seems to help make people pay more attention.

I tried that once. Cop jammed on the brakes, hit the break down lane, and got behind me. Pulled me over, and chewed my *** out for speeding. I told him he was as well, and he said he was going to a call. I told him he should have had his lights on then.

NOT a happy police man, but he had to get to his call, so he let me go.

That's great, I never had that happen but I wondered why they wouldn't. Like you said though if they are going to call they should have lights and sirens on, at least one or the other.

          Re: Cop speeding

There are reasons they don't use their lights and sirens. You never know if someone has been kidnapped and the criminal doesn't know a cop is coming up behind him... turning on lights or a siren will make the cop more visible to the suspect and also make some people (including criminals) more nervous or dangerous.

I drive my CV fast on the interstate for the fact nobody gets in my way, if I drive slow, they stay the same speed and don't move over... it gets annoying. When you see a cop coming up behind you really fast, you pull over lights or not.

I'm not siding with him though, I've seen two ambulances flying around town with sirens and lights... I followed them (going same way they were going) to see that they pulled into a pizza hut and got out laughing. I guess they had a race to the pizza hut.

Fastest I've done that at was about 100, when the cop realized what I was doing about 10 seconds into he quickly slowed down and moved over, like I was going to continue at that speed past him.
You do know that they can clock your speed even if you are behind them. My brother and I followed behind a cop doing 80 and he pulled over the side of the road and then back behind us to pull us over. Step brother got a ticket for 80 mph. Most cop cars have radars attached to the back dash.

Im told officers are exempt from that law. I don't know for sure, I never bothered reading it, but I wouldn't doubt it for a second. It probably applies to anyone in an emergency vehicle.

I see it basically daily, so if they do enforce the ban, i'm gonna make sure i keep my camera handy so i can bust the ****ing ****s who think they don't have to follow the laws like the rest of us.
Like I just said, you might want to read the ordinance in case officers are exempt and save yourself from looking like an a-hole.

Hmm, yur ballsy man. I watched two cars following a cop just like that, and that SOB hit his brakes hard, pulled off on the shoulder, let the cars pass, threw the lights on and got one of 'em.

I did not know that, hmm. Good thing I only live a few minutes away from my job now and don't haver that commute everyday.

TY, I got lucky cause I've probably done the 5+ times and never had a problem other than the one I mentioned originally.

My friend that is a cop said they are allowed to do that. I personally think if they are speeding w/o lights and/or sirens, they are just as dangerous as anyone else on the road. My friend asserts they have training. I still call :bs:.

If you see the way some of these cops drive down here you would wonder where they get that training.
