  • firebird in need of some serious love...

so my car has 128k miles on it and it is in need of a weekend of some serious love. As it sits right now:
A few years back a crack developed in the dash, if you didn't know it was there you usually couldn't tell ever so often though the heat would make the 2 sides of the crack pop up I could press back down and you wouldn't see it again. Well on vacation a few months ago the wife noticed it and I told her "oah it's been there for years and you just have to push back down and it goes away" upon showing her it broke into 3 pieces leaving a fist sized hole. So earlier this week my search for a correct color decent price front dash cap ended and it arrived yesterday. Dude shipped it maybe an hour after I paid great ebayer!
I have an oil leak that might be the front crank seal or the oil pan or the front cover or the rear cover for that matter but just don't have a place to work on the car where I can tell. I have all the stuff to change the front one but these 100+ degrees days makes me not want to lay on concrete in a parking lot.
The carpet desperately needs replacing as it has wear holes in places and 10+ years of spilled drinks have finally done it in.
Yesterday my AC leak got the better of it and I no longer have cold AC (remember those 100+ degree days)
    It has 123k+ miles.
The brake fluid needs to be bled somewhat desparately it looks horrible.
The clutch has slipped from time to time, I have a new clutch and pressure plate sitting in my tool closet along with my new dash cap.
The plastic piece on the driver side seat belt that kinda slides up and down on the buckle to add tension to the belt is gone, I have a used set of those in the closet also.
I needs a coolant flush (done 4 years ago) and new hoses (10+years old) (radiator at least), after 10+ years I think it's about time.
Finally there is some clunk in the back end that has gotten loud, may be exhaust may be a suspension component or must the spare tire and jack but it's getting annoying)

Overall there is a good 2 weekends of work and likely up to $2000 in parts (that I don't already have) to be done on it depending on where the AC leak is located and if there is any other damage done to the AC system.

Last year I received a nice surprise bonus check which I will not be getting this year which would have taken care of everything in one swing of the bat but this year that will not be happening.

The biggest crappy part about the whole thing is I make good money and buying the parts isn't too big of a deal but not having a decent place to work on it is what's stopping me from doing most everything that she needs to get back in solid proper working order.

I am nowhere near thinking about getting rid of the car but damn not having a garage sucks!
