    Dear Gamers,

Tonight my wife and I finished Final Fantasy 12 (FFXII), and it took us about 3 hours. An hour to actually do the last level, beat the last boss, and watch the ending movies... and two hours for us to fully vent how disappointed we were by it all. FFXII is, in our opinion, nothing like the other final fantasy titles in a way that is unfortunate. Since I know that you all want a list, here is a short one (we actually amassed close to 70 or so complaints...):

    1. The storyline is weak and confusing, lacks epic-ness, and is uninvolved.

    2. Most of the characters are bland, some should have been left home when the adventure started, and the main villains are bland too.

    3. The mini-games and many such fun elements normally rich in a final fantasy environment are missing.

    4. The world is all brown, the music is nowhere near as nice as it was in other FF's, and a real airship is missing.

    5. Summons are weak... quickenings end up being weak... summons have the wrong names (no, not different names, the wrong names)...

    6. There is no decent love story in FFXII.

Well, that about sums up out largest points. We would rate 7 as our favorite FF, 10 as a strong second, and 8 as third, with 9 and 12 being somewhere below that. Anyone else have any thoughts?

At first I thought you said it took you 3 hours to beat the whole game... lol

Well I think, even though FF XII was for Playstation 2, nowadays with these next gen consoles they are focusing wayyy too much on graphics then on actually what makes a game...fun. The reason people play games is for the fun, entertainment...escape. Games that make you feel like you are accomplishing and good story lines to keep you interested.

Granted that multiplayer games (aka Halo) don't really need story lines, but most games nowadays are all about how they look. I played 3 times the amount of time on games on my N64 and PS2 then I have on my 360. I had more fun playing with my 64 bit graphics then I did with these real life looking games. Nintendo still has the right idea, keeping the games fun.

Never really been a Final Fantasy fan, my RPG of choice was Chrono Trigger on SNES back in the day.

      QFT

December will be 2 years that I've had my PS3 and I've played the darn thing MAYBE 25 times, including the times my friends have used it and I actually opted to shoot pool instead. My pal has a Wii and the first time I played it I spent 3 hours on it.

games like madden are sweet cuz theoretically you can make the story epic or not. there is no set guideline to follow.

thats why sports games usually take the cake in my mind.

FF12 was made for online play, like WOW:tdown:, so it never really took off. People who like WOW play that... and the not so homo people, play FF.:stp: FF12 isn't too good.

Gaming is like cars... stick to the classics, all the new $hit just gets complicated!

Yeah, can't wait to get Madden 09. I typically try to screw over an entire franchise and see how long it takes for them to go bankrupt.

Final Fantasy 13 looks sweet, but I guess it looks like it may be the same disappointment 12 was. Boooooring.

I played and beat final fantasys VII - XII (excluding XI)
I must say Final Fantasy VII is my fav as well. I spent the extra money and bought XII the day it came out and also got the collectors edition and the nice players guide. After about 10 hours i was pretty tired of it waiting for the game to pick up a little bit. I kind of thought the game was way to easy and that actually disappointed me the most first. Then it just got boring and i skipped all the talking and rushed thought it, i just wanted to beat it so i could say i beat it. But yeah, worst Final Fantasy ever... I havent touched it since.
