  • New truck...

A friend of mine was looking to get rid of his truck, and I told him I might be interested.

Last winter he blew the motor, so he had a rebuild done, along with alot of other things like motor mounts, exhaust, u-joints, fuel pump etc.. Total repair bill was $3,000.

After the rebuild he finished driving it for the winter and bought a new car, so its been sitting in their pole barn for a few months.

I figured he was going to ask $3,000 + for it, so I said to give me a price, and he said $900 !

So I told him I was interested but wanted to take it for a drive first, after the drive I came back and said Oh this is wrong with it, and that... but im still interested... So I said Id probably buy it next week. The next day he said, I was thinking about all the stuff you say is wrong with it, and figured I could knock a few hundred bucks off of it. $700.

So I bought a 2001 Chevy S-10 with 127,000 miles on the truck, and less than 10,000 on the rebuilt engine.

4.3L V6, Auto, power windows, locks and mirrors, extended cab w/ 3rd door

Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

    The bad:

    Needs alignment - $50
    Needs brake rotors - $104
    Needs brake pads -$20
Needs wheel bearing - (only one is bad, but ill replace both) $50

Thats it... It will probably need tires in the next 6 months or so, but its a really nice truck

My brand new truck is racking up miles fast, So I bought this to daily drive so they dont rack up so fast, and my new truck also gets bad gas mileage, around 16mpg with 4.10 gears and a 5 cylinder

I just got a S10 as well...they can actually haul alot and mine only has the 2.2L 4 cylinder, how does the 4.3 do on gas? mine gets ~26-28 combined

and that was a hell of a deal, I paid that much for my '95

Other than the poor gas mileage, I love it...
                It's got a 5 cylinder with a Posi Rear-end and 4.10 gears, the off-road package
                it's a 2wd but has the stance of a 4wd. Factory lift kit and 31 1/2 " Tires

I have 2 trailers, and pull quads, I have 4 and usually tow a few of my buddies quads. So with 5-6 quads behind it all the way to Michigan every couple weeks it pulls great, you can hardly tell it's there and pull at 80 mph.

Also have a boat that I pull, heavy son-a-b!tch... its a 25 ft stingray cabin cruiser, pulls it no problem, With the big tires I barely chirp the tires coming out of the water with the boat on the ramp...

The 4.3 doesnt have a hitch yet, but a long time ago I had a chevy truck with a 4.3 and it pulled great as well.

The other thing I don't like about my canyon, is the fuel tank is pretty small, I think I get about 180ish miles to the tank.

From my house to my vacation house in michigan is about 275 miles, so I cant even make it there without filling up with gas. Bummer!

                No thanks... I dont need a LS1, Ive got a 86 Chevy Truck with a built 355 4 bolt, it's fun enough.

haha well it's also 12 years newer... I already had one guy tell me he'd give me 2,500, and another say he'll give me 2,000.

$200 for a running vehicle no matter the year, is a great deal!

                              I blue booked it's value,

                              Excellent - $6500
                              Good - $5900
