  • Must be nice to be rich, and not care about losing a large sum of $

A friend of mine, that I know through some other friends has quite a bit of money, mainly his grandparents have money, but anytime he wants money, whether it be $50 or $50,000 they give it to him right away.

He has multiple cars, Dodge Viper...Ford Lightning... Nissan 240sx... Nissan 350Z and a 300ZX, and his nicest, is a MR8 Evolution, in which when He bought it, sent it to a performance shop, and had over 100,000 in performance parts added.

Car was ridiculously fast, had complete suspension and motor for drifting and racing, he raced a bunch of people and slaughtered them.

He moved closer to chicago, and started racing more, he (from what he says) raced a 1400 hp Vette and beat him, from that point on, nobody would race him. So he decided to sell the car.

He sold the car for $76,000 which just pisses me off...

The fact that he will take such a large hit at losing so much money.

First off, I dont know how much he paid for the car, but he had over 100,000 in mods.

So to take a loss of $25,000 just in mods, + the cost of the car, is fu(king ridiculous... He said it's no big deal!

Must be nice, That $25,000 could buy a brand new car.

He is 20 years old by the way, and has never had a job until just recently.

His 240SX, the day he bought it, took it to a performance shop and dumped 10,000 into drifting suspension and rims/ tires.

Took me for a ride a few months after he bought it and I nearly sh!t my pants, coming into a blind 90* corner at 100mph, slamming on the brakes and shifting into 2nd gear.
Id say we probably slid around this corner at 60mph or so.

His grandparents are cool though, they take their cars like 66 vettes and other nice classics to the local car shows.

The greater satisfaction to me is watching these people fall flat on their face. I may never get all that stuff but I sure as **** won't take hand outs. I want to know at the end of the day I earned, a hell of a lot more satisfying than saying mommy can I have this.

I'd never say no to hand outs. Problem is, they're never truly free...people will expect favors and such so you have to watch out. never a borrower nor a lender be. You can usually count on family to not take advantage of you. Unless your family sucks.

mehh, everyone expects something in return for their money, family or not. There are always trade offs in life. I have several friends with more money than they will spend in their lifetime and ultimately they are still quite miserable.
If you take a handout expect to return the favor someday.
If you work your *** off to make tons of $$ expect other trade offs, either in your interpersonal relationships, physical health or maybe in how well you sleep at night.
The key is to find the balance.

If you already earned all the toys you wanted then that makes sense to accept what people give you beyond that.

I knew what you meant initially. If everything you've ever gotten was a handout, you may never get a real appreciation for what you have. I was more or less joking saying, ok, im tired of earning my stuff at this point, bring on the handouts! :)

No doubt I understand that. I've earned everything I have and it would be nice to have a few freebies like cars or even some cash to play with. Ah well guess I just have to start another business and work another few hours a week if I want the dough.
