    yes! i agree completely!

a very large section for HOW TO will help many noobs with their questions and help everyone do installs correctly.

i'm talking MUCH broader than the current how to section. isn't that what most of our posts are about anyhow? how to install products.

how to's that have extensive pictures and are of the highest quality.

      Re: The Complaint Thread

Guess I'll add my bit. Gotta show that another girl is still around.

First, I think that the cv6wiki is a great idea. It really cleans up some of the write-ups and how-to guides, which is important for a clear understanding and less chance of mistake. Also, older non-archived write-ups tend to have pictures with broken links that don't show up, which doesn't help much.

Another is kind of like Iwannacamarosobad's work in the sound clip thread in the exhaust section. A lot of links throughout this site lead to a lost page and general upkeep is needed, particularly in some of the stickies. I don't know if the mods need to keep track of this or the individual members, but what good is a search if all the results lead to a dead end? This is also another instance in which the wiki could help out.

A major issue I find on this site is having to go through all the useless banter, unnecessary opinions, or off-topic discussions in an informational thread. If someone asks a legitimate question that hasn't shown up in previous searches, then the question should be answered, not turned into some drawn out thread about some off-topic subject. A short little hijack is fine, but if the thread goes off in the direction of favorite music or how much something or someone sucks, etc, then that doesn't answer the OP. It's just more **** to go through to get some helpful answers. Those posts should be left to private messages or the lounge.

Another thing that was mentioned earlier is about completing threads. A lot of them state a problem, tell about how they're going to get it fixed, but don't put down a solution, whether it's been fixed or not. If you find the solution to a problem that's been posted up, then let us know. Chances are someone else is dealing with the same thing or will be at some point.

And finally, attitude is a big role in how the site is affected. Yes, the site may be going through a dull moment. But why make it worse and complain about it? Out of all the *****ing on here, a lot of that time and energy could have been spent on trying to do something to improve the site. Work on your car or research more about what your plans for mods are, or even try to help answer someone's question on here, rather than whining about it all. One person's mood can affect many. If you post here with a negative attitude, expect that kind of response. The primary function of a site like this was for information. But it's also a community. If you're really that bothered by something or someone, then get off the computer and do something productive. Otherwise, you're just causing trouble.

      Just my input.

yea, it would cut down on questions. We need a MUCH larger "how to" section. If everybody just posted a how-to on whatever they normally do (not too much work), it would be way easier. we could have things as simple as changing spark plugs, or drive shafts, fog lights, to 3800 engine teardowns, and nitrous installs. We do those things anyway, might as well post it up for future people.
(I might as well post a write up on how to change an actuator in case anybody needs it... that and the foglight are the only things ive done :))

that, and as someone else said, when the v6's first came out, they required people with a nice job, not in school, older people (usually). and now that they are getting older, the younger generation is getting them for a cheap first car...so of course there aren't going to be the same type of discussions. so I think people need to stop complaining about that, besides when the 5th gen comes out, there will be a new wave of enthusiasts and new info, so it will spice up here alot.

I think this site will pick up alot when the 5th gen comes out, so for now, i think the most important thing IMO is a bigger how-to section

this is a good idea to... there should be a link in the panel for it... and obviously more should be added, like whats currently in the how-to section and others like this http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/fogs.htm

              Re: The Complaint Thread

This website has a lot of potential. Especially when the new camaro is right around the corner. TealV6 is a busy person and does this as a HOBBY. He supports all the expanses from his own pocket and never bi*ch and moan. So, my hats off to that guy. Now, FirebirdGT (Robert) is a whole different story. He is very grumpy. He has NEVER replied my pm's and all he ever pm'ed me is orders to remove this or that. He also has a little bit of an attitude problem. But he is older than my dad, so I still respect him (I have to, that's what my parents taught me to do.) Him being the only active admin in this forum (active decision maker), it's very hard for him to know/guess what a bunch of 17-25 years old guys want in a forum since he is 50+ years old.

Now that being said, this forum needs an active admin. Admin that you can email and get a response or decision within couple hours. Admin, who's here everyday and post regularly. When you have active admin(s), things just fell into places. New ideas being put into forums, new graphics, designs, rules, etc. We also in need of a new mods. What I have seen in different forum is that, they have mod roll call. Mods have to post their attendance once a day in a thread for a specific period of time. Those who fails, their mod status simply being taken away.(it's a pretty fair way IMO)

Okay, before that wiki gets SERIOUS hatred from the V8 crowd, I'd remove the CETA from the top banner...its not a V6.

Doesn't our supporting membership fees chip into for some of that?

Supporting membership isnt required, and im sure the people who do support, even though it does help, probably doesnt cover 100% of the expenses.

                                Re: The Complaint Thread

Wow, just wow. I wish some of you would take some lessons from the Corvette forum. The people there are polite and helpful with a mutual level of respect toward each other. Useless threads don't exist there and words such as "douchebag" are not tolerated.

My suggestion is that the mods begin to bear down on these foul-mouthed complainers and either delete their posts or send them on a permanent vacation. I'll be "cleaning up" this thread.

Anyone who wants to make a "suggestion thread" is more than welcome. But a "complaint thread" will not be tolerated. It is disrespectful to the administrators and the members who have made this site what it is.

Thank you and have a great day.
