So, me and a couple buds are looking to do a nice road trip before school starts in Sept....where would be a sweet place to go.

And, is the drinking age 21 everywhere in the states?

come to Montreal...I see rowdy Ontario kids here all the time

        upside:
Not too long a drive (6 hours), french girls are hott, you'll party like you never have before in Montreal bars and clubs...completely different feel compared to Toronto

        downside:
U won't understand the french signs

what do you mean about the signs? How are they different?
and what do you guys got over there, like entertainment wise?

I'm thinking of doing something similar next summer; 2 months of nothing but hanging out with my best bud, seeing the sites, and cruisin in the 'Maro cross-country :)

The drinking age in Quebec is 18.

Yes, you will have a blast in Montreal. Its not only a beautiful city, but very historic, and full of clubs and bars with the best looking girls I've seen (for example, take a stroll up rue Saint-Laurent on sunny afternoon...you'll get whiplast checking out girls) and the best restaurants outside of New York City.

As for the signs, you won't understand them because they are in french. For example, its not a highway, its an autoroute, its not a bridge, its a pont, and its not a street, its a rue...the signs are not translated at all. I see English out of towners getting lost here all the time, so bring your GPS

lol...gps is ALWAYS on me...I got the worst sense of direction somone could possibly ever have....any sepcific bars/clubs we should check out if we go (mosty likely going to mtl) ....also does it matter that I suck at french? Like I literally probably cannot construct even a 1 1/2 sentences in french. I totally forget everything I learned in french class, and I was never really any good to begin with.

Gotta wait till I am 21 in Jan to get trashed in the states....UNLESSS....we bring a crap load of booze over the boarder, but I think we might possibly get in trouble for that.

I'm not much of a clubber, so don't take my word for the best clubs in town. I have a friend who DJ's and promotes for TribeHyperClub and never stops talking about it so you might check that out...I've personally been to Cafe Campus off of Saint Laurent, where you'll find mostly english club goers. Les 3 Brasseurs at the corner of Sainte Catherine and Crescent is probably your cheapest way to get drunk. They brew their own beer in house...try the blanche or blonde...those are the best two in my opinion, but you can ask to sample them all for free...if you try the metre of beer you'll sample like twenty different beers on a one metre plank of wood. A one litre glass of beer (equivalent to just under 3 bottles) will set u back about 8 bucks. Their food isn't bad either. Another of my favourite bars is on Crescent called Brutopia. They usually have a live band and also feature house beers. Essentially if you ask someone where Crescent street is or where Saint Laurent is and then hang out on either of those two streets you will be satisfied...plenty of great clubs, bars and restaurants.

Oh, and if you're looking to sample some of the food's Montreal is best known for, you can get Smoked meat from Schwartz's on Saint Laurent (the place doesn't look like much), or you can check out Rueban's near the corner of Sainte Catherine and McGill College...that's also near the Eaton Centre and the rest of Montreal's underground. For the world's best chicken place, check out Chalet BBQ on Sherebrooke near Decarie...its a little far from downtown, but if you're hungry you can't beat that place. And so you can say you've eaten a real bagel (not like the buns with wholes in them that you get in Toronto) drive up Saint Laurent and make a left on St. Viateur...and then go to Saint-Viateur's bagels...the place has been around forever...all english, and great bagels...pick up some Tsaziki and dip them...amazing!

You don't have to speak french in Montreal...everyone will be able to speak english to you, just don't be a d*ck about it...meaning just be respectful to the french ppl and they will generally treat you well. Don't walk around there like you own the place since you're english.
