Supposedly this storm has made category 5 in less them a day, from category 3 this morning to category 5 this evening. I would say this is out of place but more people check the lounge then they check the region sections. New Orleans is on mandatory Evac right nor (So I have heard)
The evacuation of New Orleans becomes mandatory at 8 a.m. Sunday along the vulnerable west bank of the Mississippi River, and at noon on the east bank. Nagin called Gustav the storm of the century and told residents to "get your butts out of New Orleans now."
This is what the Mayor was Saying.
Yes bigger Because we are still in the same Century as Katrina if im Correct:tup:
I say everyone in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi,....just ride it out. No sense in filling the tank up with gas and going north just because of a little rain.
I'll say it once, I'll say it again, BETTER SNOW THAN HURRICANES!!!

You have the advantage of being in the middle of the country. but you can get snowed in.

Snowed in??? Right...not in this city, unless 12' lands on the ground in 20 minutes. These people have the trucks salting the roads before the **** drops on the ground. They have more people plowing than sleeping at night.

Hurricanes are not that bad, as long as you are not stupid. Its like the #1 easiest to prepare for natural disaster.
yeah katrina, not that bad
if the city was more organized when it comes it evac then yeah it wold have been super easy to plan for
or if they diddnt have crappy levies, or about a thousand other reasons.
whatever the mayor of New Orleans says, I wouldn't listen to 1 word, that guy is a dumbass, and people died because of him and others.

Considering you live in FL, which is ABOVE sea level for the most part, it probably would be easy.
Katrina itself didn't hurt New Orleans as bad as lets say Gulfport, MS, but because of the levees being topped and collapsing, there was the flooding, something alot of FL doesn't have to deal with.

yeah, but the plywood state is constantly flood w/old people. Let new orleans just be washed away & done with. rebuild in a place "above" sea level, or at above sea level not by the sea.
