ok so this is kind of a long story so i will try to make it short and to the point
recently a friend of mine purchased a 97 lt1 anniversary, [bbk long tubes, full borla exhaust,full msd ignition system, cold air intake and, ?... ] well after hurricane dolly hit my friend decided it would be a good idea to drive his car through flooded roads... shortly after the car would turn off at random points and for no apparent reason, this happened for a few days until he decided to take it to a mechanic a "family friend " of his and he was told that it was the distributor, well after charging him 400$!! to fix the damn thing the car turned on and worked .... for about a day ... the car had been driven for about 1 hour since leaving the shop and then it suddenly back fired and just wouldnt turn over anymore car cranks but wont start, my friend calls me over and i go to try and help him after opening his hood i notice that the msd system i gone the wire that taps into the intake is completely torn off and it looks like only the distributor cap was changed (about 15.99 at the local advanced auto) after towing it back to the mechanic and confronting him about the missing parts he hands them over and looks for his distributor receit, coincidentally he lost it,.. this pissed me off pretty bad seeing my friend getting hustled by this low life but he insisted that it was fine and just to drop it all he wanted was his car fixed, well after leaving it there for about 4 freaking days the guy calls and says that its a problem with the crankshaft and he is gonna need another 300$$ to fix it ! [dont get me wrong wouldnt that be a lot more expensive?] well the car was suppossed to be out today 9-1-08 and yup as i expected the guy comes up with some more bs and says that the car has something else wrong with it .... "something is not letting the fuel get to the engine."... wtf i just dont see how a distributor, crankshaft, and what i am guessing is the fuel pump/lines tie in together i have told my friend not to pay this guy a dime until that car is running in perfect condition my friend and i are pretty fu@@ing pissed and have had it i really feel that its gotten to the point to where this guy has no idea whats wrong with the car and is simply just throwing parts into, however i have no experience with lt1s so cant really do much about it so if any of you out there have any advice i would be glad to hear it and it will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
