    what it at now?

Ike is worrying me a little, it might hit Tampa, and that place hasn't been hit in decades, it will **** it up pretty bad if its a cat3 or higher.

EDIT good news looks like Ike might be hitting the cuba, that normally tears up the storm a little so it isn't has harsh.

I heard this guy from South Carolina being interviewed on the radio:

"What are you doing to get prepared, sir?"

"I went out and bought some meat and a bunch of sodas."

...Yeah, that guy's quite the fine example of preparedness. :spank::rolleyes::slap:

Neither one of those two things is on our hurricane prep list (with the exception that we have some cans of Spam in our hurricane supply stock - if that qualifies as "meat").

            guy is an idiot.

You wait to the last possible minute then you buy a bunch of meat for dirt cheap because grocery stores are worried about losing power and meat spoiling.

Then you have a feast cooking it on propane grills for the next day or so. But gotta hurry because you probably won't have power either.

Get as many empty 2 Liters as you can fill them with water squeeze them, then fill your freezer. "block ice" lasts way longer then regular ice and as it slowly thaws you at least have some cold water to drink, and it will keep your freezer a little longer. Maybe 2 days or so.

I enjoy storms, and would like to experience being in a hurricane. I lived in florida for a couple years and It absolutley sucked balls living there during hurricane season.
Unfortunatley I picked the wrong year for living there, no storms.

People (in orlando) were nuts, we had a tropical depression, which was no worse than a rainy thunderstorm and I went to wal-mart to go grocery shopping, not like preperation for the storm, but just to get groceries, and it was a mad house.

There was no water, I couldnt find a single case of bottled water, lines were ridiculous, I walked the store and there were no batteries left, candle isle was fading fast...

It depends... before no one did anything in fact during the 3-peat of storms people really didn't do much. People made fun of me because I was prepping(I from south FL and been through a few storms) I am not expecting to die or anything but I am expecting to not have power for 3-5 days.

During charlie I had no power for 6 days.

During Andrew I had no power for 11 days

During Wilma when I went down to help, they had no power for 5 days

Really sucks when that happens and you forget how hot/dark/boring it gets at night when the sun goes down and nothing but humidity form the storm.

I suggest large quantities of booze, if you got a hook up for ice(I could steal garbage can full fo ice from my work if I wanted) some candlelight, extra propane, cook some cheap steaks, drink some cold beers, listen to the radio and some good old ****ing with the lady to past the time.

There was an actual increase in babys born after the 3 storms do to conception during/around the storms.

Tip though something I made that was badass and I will do every storm now. I had a 12 volt lawnmower battery. I had it to test electrical circuits I was working on for cars, I bought it for like $8 from walmart. During the storms, I had a spare set of foglights, I just clamped to the battery with some vicegrips, and they lit my entire place up for ~4-5 hours. When battery died, I just jump it off my car for like 10 min, and it would last for hours. Makes for good board game playing light.

honestly everyone *****es about "why would you live there! they have hurricanes!!!!!!!"

you have a week to prepare, you get a few days of work because sheriff declares no people on streets.

                            You see a badass storm
You see some cool stuff flying in the wind
You lose power, but honestly its cool to get out of the normal groove, sure you sweat, but that makes things "erotic"

You hang out, drink a little, cook up all your meat before it goes bad on the grill and ****.

                            Thats my hurricane experience.

oh yeah, and you do alot of yardwork cleaning up. boohoo....
