  • so i drove my friend's lt1 the other day

i asked him if i could drive it to check out the steering rack. i've been going back and forth on if it was worth upgrading or not so i figured i might as well just try it out first.

its a 94 trans am, gt if it matters.

i definitely prefer the rack, just feels a lot less loose.

but thats ultimately not the point of the thread.

i've never really driven a "fast" car before. i mean my family's jeep, truck, and my caprice all have v8s, but they arent exactly built for speed. i drove an old 89 t/a once with a 305, it had been sitting forever. my 3.4 was much faster.

but damn. i floored it in my friends t/a, its like **** your pants fast. and its stock.

so the point? i can't believe cars with 300, 400, 500hp can still be called slow. 265 seems like plenty.

ill probably do a v8 swap next summer.:stp:

(i test drove an ls1 once, but i couldnt get on it because it was raining and would just spin.)

You don't need alot of HP. Power to weight ratio is what you need. Drop weight from the car and it can be really fast.

Night and day over the V6,but my V6 is still fun to drive.

Besides with our strict 30mph seizure law,you can't get in trouble with the V6.

Your in lose your licence and car range at the end of any on ramp in the LT1

Cars with tq FTW. I don't think I can drive another car that has less 280-300 ft/lbs tq. That's one of the main reason I love US made cars because of their high tq numbers.

275 ft/lbs of tq here :wavey:

no, theyre 275hp 93-95 and 285hp 96-97 due to use of dual cats.

you must not have gotten into it much then, once you hit 3rd they pull like a som bytch. (which is really annoying because until 3rd i can give them hell, after that i watch them slowly pull away)

i have a Y87.... so I have the v8 steering rack...never driven a camaro without it, so I don't know how big the difference/what the difference is... but I can imagine it would be nice having all that extra power

reminds me of this one kid i was talking too. He was telling me about how he went and test drove a toyota matrix and he was telling me how fast it was..... way faster than a civic. And i was like..... "have you ever driven a v8?!?!?!"

honestly you need to explore a whole new world. I been a v6 guy through and through and enjoyed them but nothing compares to a car that has enough power that everytime you romp on it, it has a hard time staying straight and the wheels getting traction.

yeah its fun driving a car with enough power when ever you floor it with a chick in the pass seat they start screaming

every lt1 i drive seems more ballys down low compaired to ls1's. lt1s are know for being tq mosters when modded. ls1 power is a good bit smoother.
