  • Major Dilemma on My Hands

The moment I purchased my car I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. It has been my dream to make my vision a reality, and nothing would make me happier. What I didn’t know was how much it would cost me to do. Back then I was a waiter making 2.15 an hour + tips. Now I am a returns administrator making 12.55/hr. Let me lay this out for you in 2 categories. What I want to add, what I have already purchased, you tell me if it would be easier to just go and purchase a Z28 or work form where I already am.

    What I want:
    -LS1 & drive train w/ 6 speed & LSD
    -CME Exhaust
    -Berger Panel
    -Lowered
    -HID Lights
    -SS Spoiler

    What I have:
    - K&N Filter, Pacesetter Headders, MagnaFlow 2.5" Hi-Flo Cat, FlowMaster 80 Series, 36# injectors, PowerDyne Supercharger@9Psi, C6 Z06 Rims,Ultra Z hood

I Figure the Drive Train and engine is alone worth just buying the z28 but a good Z28 will cost me 8K and I think I can finish my car for that price. But then I think of small things like Interior and Better sway bars. I want you all to help me decide. I can actually adapt my supercharger onto a LS1 which I think is cool, but would probably have to sell it and my camaro to afford monthly payments on a new car. And if i keep my current modifications, i would have to buy stock parts to keep them for my new car....Help me out, what am I to do. I was wanting to move out but I want to complete my project before doing so. I just don't know what to do....

I agree with kristen. It's easy to just go and buy a Z28 w/ T-Tops, but it's a lot more fun saying that my car started as a bone stock v6 and now here she is.

I guess it all depends on your financial situation and what you want out of it. Personally, I have a lot more fun working on my cars and bikes than I do signing a check to buy one.

as cool as it would be to do all the work, your better off just getting a Z28 or SS and going from there

I'm not familiar enough with cars to do a engine swap, so I would also have to pay to get this done..... Also my driver window leaks and I need to get my rear bumper re-painted. You really think it worth it for all the work? It’s a toss up for me because I am not knowledgeable enough to do all the work myself and I am to broke to decently afford a new car...

Look at it this way you already have the car fix it up the way you want it and the way gas is right now with a v8 you would be putting it in the tank anyways.

Dude, I know how you feel. I also want to put a V8 in my Camaro, but realisticly I cant do that right now. My advice to you is do what I am going to do and just wait. Wait untill you have a better paying job and can do what ever you want. It may be a year or more from now but in the end it will be worth it. Well hope that helps later

                Sell the V6 and get a V8

There will not be as much down time or headaches

Here's one in Michigan for $5300.00
