Got my SS hood today.

So I got my SS hood today, and lifting it, wow, it really isnt all that lighter than the stock steel hood. I also noticed there isnt really a place to put the heat shield under it.


I got it from Mississippi, it shipped weds, and made it to ohio today.

I cant wait to resand what they did to it, but wow.. It came 100% no cracks, chips or breaks.. now all I have to do it paint the car and parts and put it back together.. and being my ONLY weekend off from my kids, work, or other family activites, its raining.. ****ing hurricane Ike.. lol Im in ohio and im being effected by it.. Is there anyone out there not getting rain this weekend?

And as for Ike. I'm in Northwest Arkansas and it's clear skies today. Can finally do a radiator flush. Although it poured all last week because of Gustav.

Thanks, Yeah all that damn warm air is coming up here, and the cold air from the people up north (eh hemm Mich..) its making it rain... If its going to rain it could atleast be a texas thunderstorm.. I miss those.

Texas thunderstorm... lol. I think we get something like that down here oftentimes, especially in the spring. A lot of hard rain, hail, lightning, strong wind and tornadoes (although most go around the hills).

haha not a single drop of rain yet.... the wind is just now starting to pick up a little... pretty much glad it turned to houston because it started out aimed right for us... fvck off ike!! lol

My fiberglass SS hood had a good notice of difference in lifting them. Don't know the LB difference but I would say at least 15-20 lbs. This in on a 96' Camaro style.

Where'd you get your hood from? How much you pay if you don't mind me asking? And as for complaining about Ike, I'm in Texas. I had to park my motorcycles inside my bedroom so I could fit my girlfriend's car in the second car spot inside.

Hopefully I don't get hit too badly.

The ram air hood I bought weighs a lot less than my stock steel hood. When I open the hood the shocks push the hood up easily when before I had to help it up.

believe it or not, I got it from a guy on ebay. its been on there for a while. he was asking some high amount I cant remember, but after posting it several times he lowered the price, so I got it for $400 shipped from mississippi. he used bax global to ship it, which was a few hundred less than what fed ex or ups wanted. and it was here in less than 24 hrs of shipping it. would of been here sooner, but the second hurricane slowed down the process.

he said he has sold many ss hoods to his friends, I got some pictures to see fitment, I mocked up the hood yesturday regardless of the rain, and the only thing that needs done are the small pin holes on the edge of the hood. all in all, its the best (guessing) aftermarket hood I have seen. I went to cincinati to pick up an ss hood there, but the lines didnt match, and was going to be alot of work, went to a place in indiana, I didnt like it, was too thin, went to cleveland pick a part the camaro graveyard to get an OEM, but damn.. $600-1200 for hoods.. crazy.. I saw this one and took a chance, and it was the right choice..

if he posts up another one, I'll send ya'll the link but if ya'll have been watching ebay with the ss hoods, he had a pic of his friend holding up the hood..

Im originated from Killeen tx. and my sis from temple. I miss it there, but my family are here in ohio as are my kids.. so I cant go back..

I got mine local from a guy who found it inside a shed of a buisness he bought, he put it on craigs list with a picture of it said 82-92 SS hood brand new still gell coated $250, I called him said I'll look at it , and it was a 93-97 hood , as I could tell from the pic. So I got there looked at it , one corner was cracked and broke alittle, so I told him I give you $200 for it and he took it. I just got some fiberglass gell and redid the cracked corner spot , sanded it and primed it. Then after about a month had the whole car painted. So if you look around there are plenty of deals on hood, I just saw another SS hood for $250 for a 98-02 and one for 93-97 for $200 both still gell coated. It is nice to shop around.

pretty much what I did with this guy.

I saw it, but it was the same price as most hoods.. I waited and waited.. finally he dropped it for a buy it now @ $225 with $175 shipping. After a member here took alot of things out of my garage for me (not enough) I purchased the hood.. so waiting pays off.. Right now its sitting in my livingroom, pissing my girl off, but I need the garage space, and this rain isnt helping or it would of been painted and cleared by now.

Only thing left, decide if I leave the whole hood red, get that flat black decal that lays on the hood in the void by the intake insert, or paint the scoop black and the hood red...

girl doesnt like any of the ideas, she wants me to fill in the ram air hole.. and paint it all red.. I looked at her like she was ****ing retarded.. then I got hit.
