    That could be why.

We had 3 3rd gen fbodys, they where great cars every last one of them but once you get a 4th gen there's just no turning back.:)

IMHO 305's are better used as boat anchors.

305s are pretty good; imo. All you need is a good gear in your axle and you have a nice setup. :)

          Man thats no joke!

Ive got an 85 that I dropped a built 355 into. I love working on that car.

I dread having to do anything on my 98 3.8.

Not sure if they are slower but the 305s are turds.

I had an 84 with a 305HO, 5spd bout 5 yrs ago. Raced a 98 Grand Am(Prix?) on an empty back road and we stayed side by side. I fried the tires through first and a little into 2nd. Not sure if he spun at all. But all-in-all we were side by side.

              read these threads:

              http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/ca...tions-lg4.html

              http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/fa...5-engines.html

              http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/te...run-13s-n.html

they all relate to the LG4, the most common carbed 305. theres the L69 "5.0 H.O." which is essentially the same with slightly better exhaust, cam, flat pistons, and other little differences. heads, block, crank are the same as the LG4.

the LB9 is the fuel injected one, looks just like an L98 (350.)

LO4 uses throttle body fuel injection and LU5 is the crossfire one.

Put on a set of Trickflows 56cc heads and a bigger cam and the 305 will wake up big time.
