Ok, so I pop into the LCBO today after class to grab two 6-packs of beer....I'm with two buddies underage. I get to the front to purchase my liquer and present my I.D....I get denied because I am with 2 minors....lady then rudely tells me that I must move and leave the store because she has "customers to serve." (in a rude tone) So, I'm like, yeah, I don't think so....I wanna speak to the store manager please. Guy comes out and says uh, yea you have to leave this store right now...we can't serve you. Im like why not? There response is because I am with two friends that are minors and I am probably going to share my liquer with them and therefore they cannot sell to me. I kindly replied no, this is for me, hence why I am buying it. They continue to tell me that these are my buddies and that I intend on sharing it....
To me this is age discrimination...I am 20years old, drinking age is 19 here....What is the difference if these guys were with there parents when there parents bought booze....there parents would be ushered right through and on there way without question....but because I am young (legal but young) I am discriminated against and told I can't buy booze and have to leave the premises because I "might" share my booze???
If I so decided to "share my booze" that is not there problem anyways...it would be my problem when I face a $1200 fine if caught....there was no mention at anytime this was to be shared...I was in there trying to buy for myself...
Im so rattled...I told the guy that I was not leaving until I got his name and the phone # to head office....I intend on launching a complaint not only about the discrimination I just got, but the poor customer service and the way they handled everything. The guy was idiot, and had no respect. They treated us like we were nobodies....
tell me...is that not discrimination, or am I the only one that thinks this? you assume I am going to do something because I am young....
