Because in Canada you can only buy Beer or any alchohol in 2 places, the LCBO and The Beer Store, and they each have items that are specific to their stores. Its nothing like the US where every corner store and gas station has booze!
And this is the one reason why Canada sucks. We can get drunk from anywhere. I can buy wine, get gas, a pack of smokes, and a ****ty donut from the same place.
1995 Pontiac Firebird
2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab 4x4
so then just leave and come back later that day by yourself and buy it. Im sure they didnt put your picture up on the wall saying NEVER sell to this kid.

B.C, Alberta, and Quebec I believe are like that as well....maybe not from the gas station, but grocieries stores for sure....

In Quebec I can buy a pack of smokes and a case of 24 at my local pharmacy, grocery store, gas station or corner store.
Kinda the opposite of your situation, but this happened to a friend of mine a few years ago. Believe it or not, my friend went with his dad to an ABC liquor store here in Boynton Beach and they wouldn't let his dad buy it since he had him with him (my friend was still under 21 at the time). So his dad goes "OK", leaves the store, my friend waits in the car, and his dad goes back in to buy it. The guy still wouldn't let him buy it cause he thought the dad might give some of the alcohol to him.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?
its happened to me and as far as i know they can deny you if you're with a minor at their discression. my wife was with me a couple years ago at walmart and she didnt have an i.d.
we were 21-22. they wouldnt sell to us.
This definitely isn’t a unique case.
The same thing happens in the States as well.
Many stores have a policy that prevents employees from selling to people that they know will give Alcohol to a minor. There are many reasons for this, the last of which would be just to be a pain in the butt, and drive away customers.
I once worked as a clerk in a store like that, and had a family come in and the parents were buying liquor. Since it was the parents buying liquor it wouldn’t have been an issue, except the father turned to the daughter and said, why type do you want?
At that point I had to ask if she was of legal age, which she was not. She happened to be 13.
So at that point I had to tell them I could not sell to them due to the store policy, but if they wanted to speak to a manager about it, then I would call him. Seeing how I was not about to put my job at risk for complete strangers.
I called the manager, and he said the same thing. Being older though, the parents understood where the store was coming from on the issue, so they just went to another place.
So you are not alone, this happens to lots of people, even the old people as well.
The only real problem I think is that you did not know about the policy ahead of time.
There has been many of times I have just had my underage friends not come up with me to the counter or wait in the car.
Next time, just don’t have your friends go in with you, and you should be fine, especially if you don’t park your car in line of site of the cashier.
Just to let you know, hidden policies and rules like this will catch you off guard from time to time, the important thing is learning how to roll with it and move on.
If you run across something that you truly can’t stand and think enough people might agree with you, then I would do as someone already suggested and start trying to get a grass roots movement together to get the laws / policies changed.
Good luck to you.
Hope you didn't let that store ruin your day that day.

I understand having the policy to not sell to someone who is going to give alchol to the minors...thats perfectly fine...they assumed that is what my intent was because of my age, that is why they refuse to sell to me.
Because they "assumed" that was my intent, I feel that is discrimination...not because they refused to sell to me so much, but rather because my age led them to assume this is what I will do....and they blatently told me that right to me.
I made no attempt to ask friends what they wanted me to buy or anything of that nature...I went in, picked MY beer up, and walked to the cash with it....
I can fully understand where they would come from if I turned to my buddies for money, or made a jesture that would signify I was buying for them...but I did not...thats my issue.
Dude just get over it. They assumed because 9/10 times people are buying alcohol for themself and the minors with them. There is no need to piss and moan about it. Next time go in the store by yourself and you won't have any issues.
