GM and Chrysler are in merger talks. Read the link. Cerberus already owns 80% of Chrysler and 51% of GMAC (GM's financing arm). I could see this happening since it's just an equity swap.
that sucks...I am not a fan of dodge or there quality, so I dont see this as being a good thing.
well if there was a merger, i would asume that gm would be the ones that are in control. if gm were controlling chrysler, then i'm sure their (chrysler's) quality would be a bit better.
I read today (Wall Street Journal) that the talks were basically on the level of GM trading it's 49% share of GMAC for Cerberus's 81% of Chrysler. It's hard to say right now if that would be a good trade or not.

I'd say buy available stocks now, before they go up. It'll all depend on investors' confidence, but even when Diamler first took over, the stock shot up for a few days. That amount of time would pull good dividends on the short term.

This is the key. GMAC is boned due to the current economy. If they can offload their toxic mortgage debt to the fed, then they will turn around very quickly. I don't think this is a good thing for GM since GMAC will be looking much better in the next 12 months. Chrysler, they have no hope. There is no bailout coming for them. Hopefully GM is smart enough to see that.
