  • Got an email from Chevy

    Dear Edgar,

Today's the day! The 2010 Camaro is now available to order (production starts early 2009). Starting at $22,995,1 the Camaro isn't just a sports car, but a bold emotion sculpted in sheet metal that drops jaws and inspires envy in those not behind the wheel. Simply put, with its creased, taut lines and unexpected array of standard features, this cutting-edge performance machine is passion — perfected.

So what are you waiting for? Be one of the first to take the wheel of this truly modern performance vehicle. Visit chevy.com/camaro for more in-depth information on Camaro. Download a PDF of available Camaro packaging. Then visit your local Chevy dealer to reserve yours today!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

$22,995 !!!...I paid $24,824 for my 98 Firebird in Aug. 1997. I got the whole package though, but I wonder what 22,995 comes with?

Looks like a great deal, I think they are going to sell alot of them, about damm time. I paid 17,985 for my 96' Camaro M5 with a few options, Dec. 95', also got a GM discount through my Dad. Price hasn't gone up too far.

I think the 306 hp is going to be more. I think this is the base model which has 260hp. From what I've read the Camaro weighs 3800lbs :omg: the base model goes 0-60 in 6.8. While the RS with 306hp would do 6.1.

I can only guess that the V8 would be well over 4000lbs. I guess it's no different from the Dodge Challenger.

What's making it so heavy? The dimensions are almost similar to the F-body.

Glad you answered the question I was just about to ask... :)
3800lbs? YES, it WEIGHS TOO MUCH! For a second I thought my C5 was going to get trounced...but I guess not. With a weight of close to 4,000 lbs. it's probably a low 13 second car just like the Challenger. The 400hp C6's are doing mid 12's and they only weigh about 3200 lbs. plus they are aerodynamic. I'm guessing the options add the weight.

Otherwise, the Camaro looks great and they are finally doing some nice advertising! Pretty cool. The V6 will be eating up a lot of V8 Mustangs!

the base model (LS and LT) will get the 300 hp 3.6L V6, so there's no 260 hp engine available...I think you're thinking about the CTS as it share the same engine with the Camaro, but has less hp.

A big part of the weight is do to the options...these are heavy cars because current auto industry standards require the latest safety features and GM is loading it up with all of the creature comforts ppl seem to think are necessary these days.
