i got a new car!

got another car. :emb:

1988 Fiero GT. Auto, 135k, 2.8l.

runs great, looks pretty good too. the paint on the roof is cracked though, and theres a spot thats been touched up on the a pillar. needs brakes obviously. maybe some bushings here and there, and some brake pads. some of the minor routine maintnence/tuneup stuff. needs a cd player and speakers eventually too. quarter windows are spiderwebbed, gotta replace those down the line. and the outer window sweeps are cracked but ive already got replacements coming.

best thing about it? no frame rust. its amazing. less rust than my camaro.

worst thing about it? its white.

can't pick it up till i can get to the dmv which may not be till saturday. :angry:

i bought it as a DD while my camaro does its rounds through some shops and eventually gets a new engine. then ill rebuild my 3.4/3400 and put it in the fiero.

short term id just like to do regular maintenece that youd do on a high mileage car. replace any bushings/balljoints that need it. brakes. tires. etc. needs speakers. headliner eventually.

might get an exhaust.:naughty:

in the future id like to keep it somewhat original and only at most put in a 3.4l/3400. probably no v8 or 3800sc. wouldnt mind painting it red or blue.

and BTW, there was just an 89' fiero on horsepower tv on the dyno and it looks exactly like that.. same color and everything

i've been looking for one for a while. its just a neat car. i figure i already have the best FR car ever made...(lol) so how can i replace it with another one? just can't. the fiero is unique enough when compared to my camaro that i can justify owning it. (z, vette, nother fbody, 240, etc. are just too similar.)

though they dont take kindly to repeat questions (much like another forum i know...) and im having trouble figuring out wheel sizes. got more important things to focus on though.

only thing im dissappointed in is that the only ceramic pads are EBC redstuff which arent the cheapest. and cheap brake upgrades for an 88 are limited. (84-87s have all kinds of options.) id like to adapt the 93-97 fbody rear calipers and the 98+ fronts. but i guess thats just because im familiar with em. haha.

'88 is a good year. Yours is way better than mine. Your seats doesn't appear to have any tear like mine.

The EGR on the Fieros are a nightmare so watch out for that.

i checked it out. the tube didnt appear to be cracked or anything. but something didnt seem right. it was just kinda slipped over the egr, loose and what not. is it supposed to be like that? i can get a picture when i finally get it home.

Definately take a pic of that.


Also, Fieros are nasty when it comes to carbon build up. It'll make your idle irregular. I ended up using 2 seafoam on it.

Nice buy! I've seen people put a 3.4L Camaro V6 in the back of these things... it's a squeeze, that's for sure!
