I havent been posting much lately. Seems like every time i come on here to check whats up, theres nothing new. I finally have a minute, so i'll post an update on my situation!
I finished my classes over here a few weeks ago. I've been doing some personal research, and i have to have a 30-40 page thesis written by friday. I took the time to travel a bit, meet some more people, work on the Arabic, etc. I had a taxi driver tonight say that it sounds like i have been studying arabic for years... didnt believe me when I said its only been 2 and a half or 3 months. Last week I had a guy next to me on the plane ask if i was egyptian (he was a local... i was talking to him in arabic) and a waiter ask if I was yemeni after ordering in Arabic. Definitely a confidence boost!
Unfortunately I head back home next wednesday. 19 hour flight... woot woot (kill me)
Time went way too fast. Now I'm just trying to plan a time to come back here. For now I need to get home and see the family though. Its definitely not easy leaving your whole life behind you for so long, and not really being able to talk to people.
I'm just looking forward to christmas.
Here are some of the newest pictures... Im just posting ones of me, because I'm on facebook right now and internet is too slow to find anything else. Sorry if I've posted them already. deal with it.
Here is one from when we first got here... just got uploaded though. (i know how to tie the massar a lot better now!)
After a night in Dubai. Me and the other guy in the picture were tired of paying so much for glasses of whisky... so we said screw it and started getting bottle service. That was the night when we stumbled into the Emirates Tower and were screaming in Arabic asking where all the ladies were. (i think i spent $200 myself at the bar)
Me and my new homie
And the most recent... Saw the sign and had to get a picture.
Not many new pictures on photobucket... but still have over 1000 or so on there. I posted the link before, but I'll find it again if anyone wants. And as always, if anyone wants to hear more about the middle east, I'm always willing to share my experiences!
