I read somewhere to that GM was going to drop Buick because it was there slowest selling Manufacturer.
GM won't ditch Buick. It sells like crap over here, but in China Buick sells like crazy. What would make sense is to offload Buick to a Chinese manufacturer.

what the US should do is stop importing asian cars so people are forced to buy american or high end foreign....
most people will buy American and realize how good of a car they actually are. Ask JDpowerandassociates about the Impala, Malibu and G8.....versus the camry and accord... see what they have to say

Agreed. Why are we importing all this foreign stuff when we could make GM, Ford, and Dodge so much more profitable with less competition. Toyota is raping in sales. They were the ones that beat GM for that one quarter in sales, was it last year or this year?

"Toyota's sales and revenues in the U.S. market have been slipping drastically throughout the first half of the year despite skyrocketing demand for its small cars and hybrid models. Its truck and SUV heavy U.S. model range has suffered dearly as a result of high fuel costs and has forced the automaker to close down plants and cut assembly line shifts. Taking all factors into consideration, Toyota may even resort to jumping on the price hike bandwagon."
Re: Pontiac proposed to become "niche" product
capitalism guys. Stopping imports hurts in the long run. I'd love to see the big three go bankrupt, come clean, and get ready for the future with some actual american innovation. Although, honestly, I don't see toyota and gm in competing markets.
Re: Pontiac proposed to become "niche" product
to say the US should stop importing foreign cars overlooks a few things...
First, 'foreign' auto companies actually produce a considerable number of vehicles sold in North America in North America. They're good tax paying corporations who have set up auto plants on American soil and who employ Americans.
Second, if you cut down on imports by imposing lower quotas or higher taxes foreign countries will respond with lower quotas and higher taxes on American products they import into their countries.
Finally, these foreign automakers and their high level of product quality are largely responsible for GM, Ford and Chrysler finally turning things around and putting out a decent product in recent years. If you cut them out of North America, you allow the big three to be complascent.

So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
